We had the good fortune of connecting with Kalie Trahan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kalie, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks is definitely scary, in any part of life. I believe when it comes to business, if it’s not scary it isn’t worth doing. The risk makes the outcome so much more worth it. Knowing it wasn’t easy and you had to take risks to get where you are, makes it that much more rewarding when owning a business !

What should our readers know about your business?
I own a storefront bakery named Craved Creations. I started this business while going through business school, as soon as I graduated I jumped right into opening a storefront! It has now been almost 8 years as a brick and mortar ! It has been the best, most rewarding decision. It is definitely not easy owning or running a business. Love and passion for your work is definitely a very important aspect to being successful. There is challenges everyday, but with each challenge you learn from it and grow to be a better business owner. I am very grateful for my journey as a bakery owner and wouldn’t change anything !

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I were to take my best friend to fun places in my city I would start with a walk around the historic district. Beautiful old houses and large trees everywhere , it really make for such a beautiful walk. Old league city is also very unique to tiny shops in unique beautiful little houses. I would take her shopping through these shops. Everything about old league city is unique and charming.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Not just in the starting process of opening my bakery, but also to this day my biggest support team goes to my family. My husband, parents and sister. They have not only physically helped me get the business going, but also have always been there to support me mentally. It’s tough owning a small business. The support team is so very important and I am so lucky to have them!
