Meet Katie Huff | Licensed Massage Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Huff and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had the incredible privilege of being a stay-at-home mom for 14 years—a role that taught me so much about care, patience, and dedication. When I made the decision to return to school for massage therapy and start my own business, I knew that flexibility would be essential. I wanted to continue being present for my children while also building a practice that allowed me to serve my clients with the same level of care and attention.
Owning my own business has given me the freedom to do just that. It’s also allowed me to explore different areas of client care in ways that align with both my passions and my strengths.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The name Fit Massage came from my love for both fitness and massage therapy. There are so many talented massage therapists out there, and I’d be honored to be considered among them. What I’m most proud of in my work is how I focus on really listening to my clients and helping them work through the specific issues or challenges they’re facing.
Building a business hasn’t been easy, but I believe the growth of Fit Massage comes from staying genuine with my clients and always being eager to learn. I see success in this work as a true partnership—because every body is different, and what works for one person might not work for another.
Although I started with training in basic Swedish (relaxation) massage, my real passion is in sports massage, injury and surgery recovery, and working with individuals who have special needs. My goal is for Fit Massage to continue to grow and be known for knowledgeable, compassionate therapists who tailor their approach to each client—whether someone just needs to unwind or is a professional athlete working toward peak performance.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a lover of the outdoors! I’d take a road trip to the hill country to hike at Pedernales Falls State Park. I’d make a stop at the Texas Hill Country Olive Co. and head to Fredericksburg to enjoy the wineries, shopping and of course the amazing chocolate from Chocolat, the incredible Venezuelan chocolatier just outside of downtown Fredericksburg. After spending a night there, we’d head to the Frio River to get really sunburned as we float. Then we’d spend a couple nights in San Antonio walking the riverwalk and seeing the Alamo. If we could make a quick swing down toward Corpus Christi, it would be worth it to go to Butter’s BBQ. Finally, we’d head back to Houston! Hopefully there would be a great concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion or NRG. If not, we’d head to an Astros or Texans game to cheer on our hometown team. I’d take my friend to dinner at Bori Korean Restaurant, which has THE BEST Korean bbq! And hopefully, we’d have one more night to go to one of the many amazing Mexican restaurants or food trucks, have a casual meal and laugh about all our adventures over a margarita.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Caroline Guerin, an exceptional massage therapist and the owner of Laurel School of Massage. Caroline has been—and continues to be—a remarkable mentor in the field of massage therapy, and her school stands as a testament to her dedication and excellence.
I am also deeply grateful to my incredible family and friends, whose unwavering support enabled me to complete the program and fulfill my internship hours in record time.
A special thank you to Lance Miles, owner of CrossFit Redefined, for the opportunity to collaborate over the past nine and a half years. Your partnership has been instrumental in my professional journey.
Lastly, I want to acknowledge Steven Champagne of Champagne Ventures, whose guidance as a business mentor and partner has been invaluable in shaping my brand, website, online presence, and overall business development.
