We had the good fortune of connecting with KatzWax and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi KatzWax, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly, when starting I didn’t have a plan of becoming a Wax Specialist. I knew I wanted to be a good one but also knew it was important to come up with a plan or there’s no other way. I really went based off of my own experiences. Being a woman in this society is hard. Feeling accepted & not judged is rare. I wanted to create a place where being a woman is just being a woman, where you feel like you’re going to go visit a friend. A safe place where you feel accepted and not judged for any part of your body. I want to make it normal and okay to not want hair on your body just as it is normal and okay to have hair on your body. Some people may say well it’s just a wax. Well to some people it’s confidence & feeling good within themselves. Ultimately I want to meet and service 100+ more women, and change the misconception of waxing.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I genuinely can say that I care about each one of my clients individually at every appointment I look forward to catching up even it’s for a little we make the best of it! My ultimate goal is to create that safe place for my clients to receive a service and not feel bad, uncomfortable or embarrassed. I give the energy I would want to receive.
I am most definitely proud of where I am right now. Aside from my waxing business I also love to create my own content and graphics for my Instagram. I’ve gotten asked if later on if I would consider creating templates for content to sell which is crazy to me. Let me tell you that is a huge compliment for me if y’all only knew how much I hesitate on what to post (you can ask those close to me) I will ask over and over y’all think this is good enough to post? I absolutely enjoy and love creating content, go check out my page! Let me know if I can assist you with your business!
I remember reading this saying “It took pain to find purpose.” Creating and running a business is not always what you see on social media it takes time, dedication, and sometimes some failures to get where you want to be. It takes working on your day off, getting up early or getting off just a little more late. You have to remember that this hard work is temporary not to say the hard work don’t stop but when you are just beginning, you just gotta do a little more. I’m here to say if it feels hard and you want to give up, don’t! Someone is looking and someone is inspired. Keep going I am rooting for your success and happiness. I’ve learned a lot about myself in the process and it definitely built character as they say. (You don’t have to go fishing) Most importantly I’ve learned it’s okay to not always know everything and it’s ok to give yourself that day off. I want the world to know that KatzWax does not only stop here. She is growing and thriving, making women feel great again!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a very laid back girly. So we would definitely start off by going to get my fav açaí bowls from toute suite. You can never go wrong! Then we would hit up a little market walk around shop around for cute anything. I usually go to the farmers market. Then we would go to TJ birria, let me tell you if you have not tried you need to go!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can’t thank my family enough for always encouraging me and hyping me up even at my smallest accomplishments. & also my clientele who have said my name in a room full of opportunities. I will forever be grateful to have been surrounded by such an uplifting and encouraging environment.
