We had the good fortune of connecting with Ken’Nadi Broussard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ken’Nadi, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
There are many factors that impact my success, including organization, focus, dedication, discernment, and creativity; however, the most important is authenticity. The modeling industry can be very superficial and full of opportunities that seem glamorous but do nothing for your fulfillment. It’s important for me to remember to participate in projects that actually resonate with my being and not just anything that is presented to me. Ultimately, Modeling is my artform of choice at this time and I want it to be an authentic expression of who I am. I find plenty of success when I work with this principle in mind.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I began modeling in 2019 as a senior in college at the recommendation of a photographer. After my first shoot, I continued to study and network and really dedicate myself to making my childhood dream of modeling a reality. My diligence and commitment are what allowed me get to where I am today. Even when I wasn’t shooting much, I would stage my own shoots in my dorm or on campus with my tripod and phone. There were definitely challenges that I had to overcome, especially as a petite model starting modeling at an age later than most. I overcame those obstacles by recognizing the talent and skill that I had shined brighter than any “obstacle”. I had faith and took a chance on myself. Today, I can proudly say that I’m a published and experienced model, and I’ve recently landed my first magazine cover. Overall, I’ve learned that once you get out of your own way, the possibilities are endless.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly, I’m still fairly new to the city, so I’m still learning my favorite places. Houston has a great atmosphere overall, so I’m sure it won’t be difficult to find places I like.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to absolutely every single person that has worked with me and allowed me to create with them. I am forever grateful for every opportunity, lesson, and critique that I’ve received. It’s made me a better me.
