We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenny Figueroa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kenny, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
The comedic industry is way may than making jokes. I mean as the days get more politically correct it makes coming up with jokes ten times harder cause what can be funny today, might get your ass cancelled tomorrow. Its just a tough industry, you don’t get taken seriously at all, you’re just the class clown, funny guy. Those two things makes this a whole lot harder than it needs to be.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The hardest thing for me has always been actually telling stand up jokes, I can be at the function making people laugh but if I’m meant to be on stage I just draw a blank. Not on no stage fright shit just deadass draw a blank, which is why I created The Effin’ Show. A comedy skit show where I’m able to write out skits and film em and then release for the people to enjoy. Everyone has a youtube, *blech* but nobody really has their own show, you got podcast but if you watch The Effin’ Show you see its no podcast. I am demonetized and shadowbanned for my content on youtube and everyone always tells me i needa get on the algorithm but I honestly gnf about an algorithm cause I dont care bout making money off this show. This is comedy at its finest showing people that laughter is an art and I basically do it for just that. Every joke, punchline, set up, and the laughs afterwards are all apart of this beautiful painting that you create everytime you say a joke and fuck thats a empowering feeling to make people happy, at the end of the day this comedy shit has never been about the money because I’ve been making people laugh for damn near 22 years and I haven’t made a goddamn dime off it but hopefully that’s going to change because my landlord tired of me tryna pay rent with jokes

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I mean if a homie pulled up on me, I prolly just take him to the best smoke spots. I mean I smoke at my crib so I just be there chillin all day but if he wanted me to show him some spots theres always the crackhead spot in downtown by minute maid under the bridge thats cool to people watch at, or alot of abandoned buildings in that back part of downtown you can go spraypainting and shit in. Ima be real I just try to occupy my time with free activities or drugs thatd entertain me for the tike being, all that tourist attraction shit is just a way for the man to take money from us, and what he failed to realize is I have no money.
