We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenya “Keni” Turner, Realtor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kenya “Keni”, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my own business to operate in my gift. My gift is being a connector to and for people. I was blessed with a nurturing spirit of service. Being a Realtor allows me to walk with people in making one of the most important decisions and investments of their lives. My clients trust in my ability to serve them with integrity is the foundation of my work.
Working in corporate America made me feel limited and silenced in good works. I am blessed and honored to have moved forward in freedom and limitless opportunity to serve my clients.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In life, there are constant challenges. Personally and professionally. Without tests- there is no testimony. Anything worth having is going to test you. Real Estate has challenged me to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Real Estate is a field that is constantly changing and evolving. There is no time or space to get complacent or comfortable. It requires DAILY learning, effort, action and delivery. I have to practice discipline, time management, initiative and follow through. I’ve learned and am still learning the balance.
I wake up at peace and ready to be productive. It doesn’t feel like work. And it isn’t. It’s a calling and a responsibility to serve others.
What I want others to know is my desire is to be a servant leader who cares and invests everything I am into my clients and their journey. “I Got You!” is what I tell my clients and I mean it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ha! Great question. Houston is huge and has something for everyone. I would base my itinerary on the friend or person and their interests.
We would definitely hit up a weekend outdoor festival (they have them EVERYWHERE) to experience the community and authenticity of the people of Houston.
Food is always a part of the plan …Papasitos doesn’t miss!
Wine tasting..
The Heights, Washington St, Rice Village all have alot of offer.
Harwin for a little shipping.
There’s so so much to do.
And some good Ole food truck and gas station food for good measure!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost- God gets ALL the Glory for my success and growth in Real Estate and my life.
My fiance and his undying support, encouragement, love and pushing me to go harder every day is my oxygen.
The love and activated prayers of my mother who is no longer with me physically but is my angel of love and encouragement- I feel her daily.
And my brokerage Blair Realty Group. The opportunities that avail to us, support, training, mentoring is unmatched.
I’m humbled and grateful for a village of support.
