We had the good fortune of connecting with Klay Cole and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Klay, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Growing up photography and videography was just a hobby for me that brought peace of mind because I had the ability to bring joy to others through my lens. I decided to invest in myself and make my hobby a business, which has turned out to be very successful! I love having this opportunity to always be creative.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Something that I continue to be proud of is that I continue to grow in a field that is very male dominant. I overcome that obstacle everyday and strive to show others that gender should not be considered with the work a photographer creates. One thing I want others to know about me is that my clients are always going to get 100% out of me whether it’s a 5 hour booking or 1 hours booking!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Houston has a lot of fun daytime and night life scenes! As far as food, I love to get seafood at Juicy Crab and Shell Shack. Some places to eat and drink during the day would include Seaside, Parma, and The Address. In regard to nightlife, a couple places to have fun and drink would be Prospect, Belvedere, Culture, and House (after hours scene).
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to recognize 2 friends that have been more like mentors for me Tyler (Instagram: @tyler.azalea) and Anthony (Instagram: @xxjaunbobo). They have both played important roles in my success, providing opportunity for me to network, and being supportive in every move I made with my business.
