We had the good fortune of connecting with Leia Crowe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leia, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I truly believe that as a business owner, if you stop thinking about making money and instead focus on serving your customers, helping people and bringing value to their lives, THAT is what will bring you success. I work hard to give them my all, and to go above and beyond their expectations. I strive to give them an experience like none other, whether they are coming in for a massage or using my personal training services. My goal is only to serve them. That’s when success will follow.
What should our readers know about your business?
I was always taught that God has given each person a gift, and that we are to use our gift to make a difference in the world. I have a passion for health and wellness, and helping others become well both physically and mentally/spiritually/emotionally. I became a massage therapist first, and for a few years I helped people get off pain meds, get back to work, avoid surgery and manage chronic pain… all with regular massage therapy. But after awhile I realized that if I could also teach people how to move their bodies, lose weight and eat the right foods, they could avoid many of these painful conditions and injuries to begin with! So then I became a personal trainer. Now, I help women become fit, healthy and strong, through diet and exercise with monthly maintenance massages to manage stress and tight muscles. This sets me apart, as I work exclusively with women and I approach health from a holistic place, looking at the entire body inside and out, rather than just addressing the symptoms and applying a band-aid or a “quick fix”. It hasn’t always been easy. I moved across the country all alone a few years back and had to re-build my business from scratch. I also took my fitness training online, which was a whole new avenue for me. Trying to provide people the truth, and give them “what really works” in the online world of sneaky marketing and big promises of overnight results, was tough to navigate. But I learned that just being authentic, real and honest beats out all the fancy marketing. People want someone they can relate to, someone they know actually cares about their problems, not just about a sale. And that is ultimately what I want my Massage and Fitness Business to represent: a place women can come to relieve the overwhelm, learn what works for THEM, and get the support they need to live a healthy, pain free lifestyle.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in League City, which is about a 20min drive from Galveston Island. Since all my family and friends are back home in Wisconsin, I have had many of them visit me over the years and this is the first place I take them! The strand is high on the list. The historic buildings, cute shops and delicious food are all things not to be missed! We may do a dolphin tour, have lunch at The Spot overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, and then go lay on the beach for awhile. Galveston is such a quaint little island with so much charm! Back in League City, I would take them to the Kemah Boardwalk, where we can enjoy more good food as we watch the ships go by on the bay, play some boardwalk games and take in all the views. The Bay Area is so beautiful, I always love to show it off to my Wisconsin Fam!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Carrie Green and her company, the Female Entrepreneur Association (FEA) played a big role in getting me to where I am today. I first saw Carrie on YouTube doing a Ted Talk about business and success. She came from nothing and built an empire. Her story was very inspiring, so I joined FEA to learn more. She has TONS of resources for women business owners and I learned to much from her and all the other members… I really owe her a big thank you!
