We had the good fortune of connecting with Lenworth Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lenworth, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I take my inspiration from art and life itself! I find it in small things in my everyday life and I’m inspired by other great artists and photographers; travel has also given me a different experience of life and different cultures. I believe that as an artist you need to get out and live a full life – that’s when inspiration to create hits you.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m truly grateful for everything that has come my way and for the accolades I have recieved for my work. I absolutely love what I do and none of it seems like work to me. I believe that everything I’ve worked to accomplish stems from this one thing: The time I’ve spent looking through my viewfinder at the beauty of each moment that is captured. The thing that I would say sets me apart from others is that I am constantly learning and testing my gear before I go on a job; I have to test and try how my modifiers best fit my style. This way I will understand all options. Don’t ever guess! Measure your light and have the right exposure. It saves time and will make you look more professional. When you don’t find me with a camera in my hand, then you will be sure to see me some where in the world enjoying a good family time.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, I like to visit different places in the city. When we have friends in town, we would normally take them downtown, and to other cities like Galveston, Austin, and San Antonio. I am not a big fan of eating out unless its Chick-fil-A (LOL) but thanks to my wife we find all the good restaurants. And when it comes to having a drink, I just roll upstairs to my mini bar where I have the finest bottles of wines or rum waiting.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It’s been a wild ride and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities that I’ve been given along the way. So as far as credit, I would like to thank a few folks. First I want thank my family for understanding my vision and dream. I have always told them the payoff will come. Some other folks I’d like to thank are the KelbyOne Group and the the inspiration I draw from some of the world’s best photographers and creatives, such as Serge Ramelli, My PLC Family, Matthew Jordan Smith, and Skip Cohen just to name a few.
