We had the good fortune of connecting with Leydy Pantaleon Almanza and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leydy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had been doing real estate for 3 years & it was a very toxic environment. I knew that one day i was going to have to walk away from that. Until one morning i decided to put my mental health first.
I had owned a camera for about 2 years at that point, & being newly married, I felt determined to start a business on my own.
I tried baking. I tried thrifting to resale. I picked up a ton of hobbies along the way, until one day i picked up my camera.
Thats how Esmyy Captures was created.
What should our readers know about your business?
Esmyy captures started because I needed something to keep me busy & so i never thought i would actually turn this in to a passionate career.
Im excited for all my future projects! Not only that, but showing the beauty of people through my work.
Everyone deserves to be captured & be able to be proud of the person they are ! My journey has not been easy, but it has been prosperous, & I thank God for that.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
What I absolutely love about houston is the diversity. Being able to pick up mexican food & pho all in the same street is awesome!
My immediate stop is Buffalo wild wings. I LOVE wings, any wings really!
Followed by a walk through downtown! Or even on a rooftop!
I enjoy discovering new places. One of my favorite places right now is in the heights.
The culture & scenery is just exciting to even drive by!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to thank my sisters in law’s. Cristina, Ana & Jaqueline. They pushed me to start. & allowed me to experiment with my camera !
I also would love to thank my brothers
Danny & his wife Kristy!
& Isaac, along with Elva!
& most importantly my husband. Gerardo
He has been my rock & my supporter. He has seen me struggle, laugh, cry.
(& he also buys my equipment)
