We had the good fortune of connecting with Linzi Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Linzi, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business was basically a set up for my future. Growing up I never had the aspirations of wanting to be a doctor or an engineer like most, I just always knew that I wanted to be in an industry that revolves around fashion. When I was younger my parents always bought me fashion design books where I could draw my own designs out and that fascinated me. At the age of 15, watching youtube I started discovering boutiques and business owners switching over to E- commerce shops. I started planning out how I wanted to be a boutique owner when I got older. When I went off to college, I took all my past thoughts and finally put them into place and started my own online boutique, out of my dorm at Sam Houston.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Haute Haus is an online boutique that provides cute clothes for affordable prices for women. I’ve always loved clothes and the finer things in life, so to be able to provide that for others has always been a dream of mine. Watching my grandmother, mother, and aunts hustle when I was a baby also pushed me to start my own business. Seeing how hard they worked to get our family where we are now was super inspiring, they are my muses. I want the world to know that Haute Haus is up next!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestfriend was visiting the area, I would take them to the best restaurants in Houston. Most people visit Houston to come eat and for the nightlife. Houston is “the” city when it comes to nightlife. We can go to brunch every day of the weekend, grab a few drinks, and then party. Good day places with a patio and good drinks are: Turkey Leg Hut, Lost and Found, and Bisou. Nightlife is huge in Houston and most of the day places switch when the sun goes down. Atomic Bottle’s restaurant set up, makes it perfect for nightlife. With plenty of room, an extensive bar, and great music Atomic Bottle sets the perfect tone for a fun night with friends, so we would have to go there. Clé, Lumen, and Space are great after dark places. These nightclubs are great if you really want to go clubbing.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom and aunts deserve recognition in my story. Growing up I saw them run their own boutique, Snooty Girl. I never realized how much just being in the atmosphere of them running a boutique would influence my life today. I’m grateful to have them by my side as I encounter trial and error running my own online boutique.
