We had the good fortune of connecting with Lizzette Rebollar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lizzette, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always liked to bake cakes for my kid’s birthdays when they were little and would sometimes make other cakes & desserts for different family and friends. The more desserts and cakes I created, the more I fell in love with the craft. As I continued to make more intricate desserts I decided to start a social media account to showcase some of my work and have a collection of them. With a little time people in my local area found me on social media and began to request some of my desserts. One order after another and that was it! I was soon ready to help design desserts for different events and celebrations. The most important detail behind starting my own business is the freedom to be able to work from home as I continue to raise my raise kids.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I specialize in custom edible works of art for your special day. Whether you are having a small, intimate or a more lavish event, we can craft the perfect cake and desserts to complement your style and your celebration. Our mission at Sweet Crave is to produce artistic and innovative baked goods and go the extra mile by paying close attention to detail. It’s my desire to desire to continue to provide the highest quality cakes and desserts, always honoring God in everything that we do. Things weren’t always easy because I never attended culinary school. I’m self taught and as you can imagine there was so much trial and error. My passion for the craft is what always keeps me going and educating myself on new trends and techniques. I love the work that I do, but more importantly being able to be close to my family while doing it is so rewarding.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out my mom! She’s my biggest cheerleader and has supported my journey in everyway. She has always encouraged me to never give up. My kids and my sister have also been a wonderful source of encouragement and help me to continue to move forward. Last but not least, my husband has played a big part in my success. He’s been my delivery driver since day one and my supply shopper. He gets all the not so fun tasks done and every now and then he’s a part of the clean up crew too. Overall, the love and encouragement from family and friends is priceless!
