We had the good fortune of connecting with Maddie Muhs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maddie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had been in the corporate world for the last decade, working for the same company. And while it was a great job, I never loved it. I wanted to finally take the plunge into something that I was passionate about. Not to mention, I wanted to be my own boss. I want flexibility to do whatever, whenever I want with my young children. They’re only young once!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In addition to be a content creator, I also own my own influencer agency! After finding myself an “influencer” last year, I realized that I could take my corporate knowledge and start monetizing in this space. As I began making money, I realized that a lot of my influencer friends were being taken advantage of monetarily. By agencies, big name brands, etc.

So – I sought to create a space for women influencers that was not just about a transaction. I genuinely love all the women on my roster and I want to see them thrive. I hope to change the narrative of what an influencer agency can actually be. These are real people. They should be treated like it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hermann Park is one of my favorite spots!
The Houston Zoo
Clarkwood for an espresso martini
Local Foods for a delicious chicken sandwich
Blue Heron Farm to have a glass of wine, while petting the baby goats!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, my dad deserves a lot of credit. He helped me get my job straight out of college and has always nurtured my career. I thought he was going to be a little disappointed in me after quitting the corporate world, but he has been so supportive! He even calls me with questions about Instagram all the time, haha.
