We had the good fortune of connecting with Mario Jaramillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mario, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
It taught me to always be a student. Never stop learning. Knowledge is the key to leveling up. The most important lesson is “yourself”. Know who you are, learn how you learn. Figure out what you LOVE to do. Discover what you’re great at. Explore what makes you happy and use that to help the world around you in places it needs support. You’ll discover your purpose in doing so. You will see everything fall into place.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Everything I create for other people…I do it as if it’s for me. I adopt the project and treat it as my own. I especially love when the client and I have a lot of dialogue. A lot of my clients end up being my friend. Is that a good thing? Lol, yes it is. My friends are all brilliant people.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My circle of friends loves food. In between comedy shows, interesting bars, and local events – I would take them to some of my favorite places to eat.
Etoile Cuisine Et Bar
Aladdin Mediterranean Grill
Georgia James Steakhouse
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my wife Jennifer Ann Pena. She’s an amazing person, wife, mother, and my best friend. She’s one of the best pilates instructors in Houston and a tequila sophisticate. She’s always the shiniest star in the room and everyone’s best friend.
