Meet Mea Ware | Fashion/Swimsuit Designer for Bare Ware

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mea Ware and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mea, what inspires you?
Women. From my mom and Granny Fannie to icons like Fran Fine and Zelda Wynn, and to the countless beautiful women who have paved the way in fashion — you have been my greatest inspiration.
Fashion, to me, is not about fitting into a standard or allowing your body to be defined by anyone else’s expectations. Your body does not define who you are — it was uniquely designed for you. As we change, grow, and mature, our bodies evolve with us, carrying our stories, our strength, and our beauty.
At Bare Ware, I design with this truth in mind: that every woman deserves to feel empowered, celebrated, and confident in her own skin. My inspiration comes from women past and present who remind me that fashion is not just about style — it’s about honoring individuality, resilience, and the art of embracing ourselves fully.

What should our readers know about your business?
Bare Ware actually started way back when I was in middle school. I was that kid who was always drawing, always imagining what the perfect outfit should look like. I lived for shows like Project Runway and What Not To Wear—fashion was literally life for me.
I came up with Bare Ware as a kid, but now at 31, I’ve finally put in a solid year of consistency—and that feels amazing. Bare Ware is all about creating pieces that fit each individual’s unique body type and personality. Every piece is one-of-one. Truly, there’s only one of you, so why shouldn’t your swimwear be just as original?

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I invited a friend to Houston, the very first stop is Lotus Seafood—but it has to be the one on Veterans Memorial, no exceptions. That’s a must! After that, I’d take them to a cute, chill lounge where we can vibe out with hookah, great music (not too loud), good drinks, and some solid food deals. Houston really knows how to mix good food with a good time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom. She’s such a fashionista and she always allowed me to dress so freely. I thank her!
