We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael James Cisarik and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael James, why did you pursue a creative career?
It was less of me actively pursuing it and more of it just happening. I did not even realize what creative side was within me until one day I started painting just as a means to add art to my apartment at the beginning of the pandemic. From there, it snowballed…only about a year had a passed when I realized I had completed well over 100 paintings that now resided with people across the U.S.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It may appear simple to some but it took a lot of time, effort, and realization through time to understand even what I saw as success in what I wanted to do. Once I taught myself the basics and started to practice more and more, I realized what it could potentially evolve into. In simplest terms, my dedication to ensuring clients received art they fully enjoyed as well as continuing to push through my own doubts forced this dream into a reality.
As of today, the story and brand are still evolving. I even see my style evolving – and I hope it continues – as I think it’s a sign that I am continuing to grow through understanding what I am capable of.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston has so many great spots – particularly in the food and drink scene. A trip over to Clarkwood, a new drink spot hidden off Allen Parkway, is a must. Food wise, I am always partial to sushi and swear over MF Sushi. But also have really enjoyed Ume, Kata, and obviously Uchi! I have yet to try Hidden Omasake…but that is solely based on my inability to get a reservation!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There never is just one. I have had the privilege of support from so many of my close friends and even people I met through different social channels over time. It’s always the encouragement and support when I feel like I am questioning my capabilities that pulls me through.
