We had the good fortune of connecting with Michele Razzano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michele, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Our business started for our son. Our son has so many food allergies that cakes and cupcakes just did not work like the normal treat, so we started Kustom Karvings. We started by making pirate ships, Disney inspired characters, business logos and more out of watermelons and making fruit platters with them. We also love fall time as we carve pumpkins for businesses mostly and some fun ones as well. We took such a difficult situation for our son and made a business out of it for so many in the community and the food allergy community as well.
What should our readers know about your business?
Our business is a unique one as there are very few people who can do it in our area. Not many can carve characters into fruit. We have been so fortunate to meet great people, and our business is all word of mouth. Some lessons we have learned along the way would be is limit how many carvings a week to allow rest, also not everyone is our client and that is ok.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spots is food locations. Some of my favorites would be Fusion grill Erma Rose Winery Farmer’s markets such as Whiskey Cake Katy Farmer’s Market, Whiskey Cake Stafford Farmer’s Market, Pecan Grove Farmer’s Market, HG Produce
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our shout out is to all the parents and people who live with food allergies. The reason why is it is so fulfilling to make all these people’s birthdays or special occasions come true. We love celebrating with them all on so many accomplishments, it’s just so heart warming.
