We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Carlson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
I have not been the best parent by any stretch of the imagination 🙂 but I have tried to stay true to allowing my children to make their own way in the world. They were never forced, just guided and I am so very proud of the choices they made. Strong boundaries growing up made it easier to loosen the boundaries and give them space to make mistakes and learn and grow into the AWESOME adults they are today.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I came from the world of fitness, where nothing worth having is ever easy. I learned that lesson early on, and it’s served me well in my career.
I know switching to real estate in mid life may seem like a crisis to some, but this has been something I have been thinking of since our kids were barely crawling! We couldn’t afford it at the time and I took the jobs that came about to pay the bills, and praise the Lord for those!
Was it easy changing careers?
Absolutely not! But I do love a good challenge and even better, I love a great goal.
I have learned that there is truth in the fact that it’s never too late to try something new. I had a friend who went back to school a few years ago and she may not know this, but she greatly inspired me.
What do I want the whole world to know???
That’s a great question.
I want to bring a level of integrity and transparency to real estate that I never personally experienced. There are FABULOUS real estate agents out there! I have met several, and recently I’ve had the chance to join a few.
With time and effort we can bring education to the real estate consumers so they feel powerfully informed in their own choices and decisions…that’s my goal.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, they would HAVE to come hang out at my farm for a little bit at least!
Hopefully they won’t visit during the rainy season as it does get muddy, but that farm offers a peace like I’ve never felt in my life. Bonus points if they sit and share a glass of whiskey with me.
Activity wise, I am an animal nerd so the Aquarium Petting Zoo (home for rehabbed pets) and the Houston Zoo would be on the bucket list.
Coffee shops that are a bit different, so we would hit up Java Owl off Nasa PKWY, the Black Rock in Texas City, and on the weekend Heart & Whisk Bakery right here in Baytown.
For great Mexican Food and even better Mimosas, Casa Julia in Mont Belvieu.
Mo’s Pub is my favorite for burgers.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, Alan!
He believes in me even when I don’t believe in myself and he ALWAYS has.
Even when I make quick decisions or change direction on a dime, he has always been there to provide feedback, a sounding board, or even putting out signs on the side of the road!
He always has my back and knows just what I need.

Book I recommend to EVERYBODY is the 12 Week Year. Absolutely fabulous to get things done.
