We had the good fortune of connecting with Nani Israel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nani, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
I do! It was actually the reason why I started The Ladies of Elegance She-EO Academy. As a sophomore in college, I attended a “dream job” seminar where the speaker mentioned, “In order to find your ‘dream job’ [aka – my purpose in life], find a problem in society that pisses you off and be a part of the solution to change it”. Chasing that mission is what led to my success and the success of my students. .
What made me angry was that every time I turned on the television and looked at women who looked like me, I saw black women being portrayed as loud, combative, promiscuous, and shameless which was far from the narrative I was raised with. I made it my mission to popularize black excellence, and one of the biggest complimentors to black excellence is black wealth. Through my Academy, we have generated over $275,000 by monetizing Instagram with less than 15K followers, helped thousands to do the same, and even created dozens of six figure earners in the process. My biggest flex is helping those women to blossom into the very best versions of themselves in the process by turning burnt out, overwhelmed “wantrepreneurs” into six figure ceo’s who are on fire and in flow with everything they do!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I remember when I couldn’t afford to stay in the college I attended so I took three jobs to maintain my education. .
I remember not being able to afford books, socks, or a cell phone for 3/4 years.
.
I remember my first job out of college was as an admissions counsellor making $25K a year and getting fired 6 months later for being black [real talk – I could have sued, but didn’t have any money and didn’t know any better]
.
I remember my next job working in commission sales at a telecom company for 3 years, topping charts for sales records and still having red-tape hindering my professional growth. I was frustrated at the thought of making pennies while doing the work that made others millions. My spirit was too big to stay stagnant and I knew women needed my help.
.
I remember starting my business and making $5000 IN TOTAL during my first 4 years.
.
I remember during that time my hubby and I [high school sweetheart] were homeless living in a small RV while I worked on my Masters trying to grow my business.
.
I remember in 2019 making $50K on IG with less than 4K followers.
.
I remember making my first six figures 6 months later with less than 7K followers and a small team of 2.
.
I remember growing that team to 7 people and making $275K+ as of the day of me typing this response. We bring in 5-figure weeks and help our students get to the bag while blossoming into the most organized, energized, on fire & in-flow versions of themselves.

… Trust God, and trust the process. Invest in a mentor who is currently where you’re looking to be. Educate yourself daily. Make sure your mission is servant-led and that will activate blessings on blessings.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So ironic you would say that, I’m taking my team on our second annual company retreat! .
The perfect visit has to be jam-packed with great food, great convo, fun activites and plenty of self-care time so:

– Dining: mexican, italian, jamaican
– Activities: tiki tour on the river w/ drinks, escape room, mystery dinner, spa day (massages, facials, mani/pedi)
– The rest is self care/self reflection/quiet time to recharge batteries 🙂

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family is very large (mother’s and father’s line, grand and great-grandparent’s line x2 and step-family), and so immensely diverse in mannerism! My family on my mother’s side are well educated, well-spoken go getters who were successful with the resources provided to them so I always had a measuring stick for success. My father’s side is very country, and gave me a firm foundation with having Christ my life as well as a groundedness and worldly wisdom that was invaluable coming into the world as an adult. .
I can truly say I had the best of both worlds growing up, because I received all I needed for life to be important – even though we didn’t have 2 pennies to rub together, I can confidently say I had all the perfect examples of femininity, family values, worldly education and protection I needed from the village that raised me. With that, I was blessed to be well equipped to carry the burden of thousands of women who struggle with mental health issues while guiding them with a gentle wisdom that helps them achieve their goals 🙂
