We had the good fortune of connecting with SuperFly Mixx and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi SuperFly, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote is one that I kinda just started telling myself. It’s “Whatever happens is going to happen when it’s supposed to & how it’s supposed to”. To me that means don’t worry. Let it flow. Control what you can control adapt to what you can’t. I like it because it lets me be free & move how I feel & not based on social pressure.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The differences between me & other artist I think is something that has nothing to do with the art itself but actually my professionalism. I take my craft very seriously & that shows when I create music or perform on stage. That’s pretty much what’s carried me so far. That & my will to keep going no matter how tough the journey is. Definitely not easy. I pretty much get through everything by telling myself it’ll happen for me when it’s supposed to happen. And right now seems like I’m getting close so I can’t quit now.
A few things I’ve learned are that you can’t control everything & that nothing is going to happen overnight. So I focus on creating for my core audience & fan base because those are the ones who’s pushed me this far. I just want people to know that I stayed true to myself the entire time. Trying to create my own wave & not ride the biggest & easiest one.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m an indoors person, haha. So it’s hard to say but man I would definitely say we gotta hit Frenchys in Third Ward. Definitely hit up a strip club. Probably Onyx, Chicas, etc. But like I said I’m more of an indoors person & Im working on music a lot so you’d have to ask my girl for that, haha.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my girlfriend. Even on the bad days she still gives me that push to continue. She’s still by my side admiring my talents when I feel like quitting. Also, a lot of my success wouldn’t be without the help of my friend/producer & engineer Relli of Matchbox Studios. He’s really opened my eyes to different ways of working & creating something from scratch. We’ve found a good medium & are always able to come up with the best solutions to create magic.
