We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalia Castillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalia, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Born and raised in the beautiful South American country of Colombia, Natalia prides herself in her Latin Heritage and cultural traditions. After moving to the United States at the tender age of 18, I received her B.A. in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Houston in 2012. My friends and colleagues call me a Colombian firecracker because of my bubbly personality and also for setting sparks in the Fitness and Pageant world as a 3X Ms. Bikini Universe Pro Champion, Model Champion America, Miss Houston Latina 2014, Miss Texas Latina 2015; now current Director of Miss Texas Latina Organization and last but not least Founder of Fireyoup Movement. I strongly believe having strong Latin background and parents who are excellent communication skills, has given me the opportunity to become a social connector and female motivator like no other! I consider myself a powerhouse who bring along, a wealth of knowledge about Mental Health, Stage Presence, Nutrition and Fitness. Im excited and passionate to continue to use my forces, voice and story to further empower America’s women.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Im very proud of having come to America and submerge myself in the culture by learning English, graduating from The university of Houston and having a platform where I can bring awareness to Mental Health. Im proud of being able to impact those around me and have the blessing to live in such an amazing country where the opportunities are ENDLESS

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I first would take them to my gym Fit Athletic Club to get an awesome workout in the mornings, then Common Bond for breakfast and coffee and then a walk at River Oaks district or City Centre. I will also take them salsa dancing to Glorias or Fabians. On saturdays we would go to LD Dance company for a samba class and then memorial park to enjoy the afternoon

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost GOD. Secondly, My sister-in-law, she has definitely been my rock since I moved to the United States. Third my family! Specially my dad.
