We had the good fortune of connecting with Nazeleh Booker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nazeleh, why did you pursue a creative career?
Honestly, growing up I always had an interest in arts. I wrote poetry, plays, and short stories. I used them as way of self expression and escape. When I wrote the troubles of life simply melted away. I felt that I could express things that I sometimes wasn’t able to vocally. After high school I put writing in the backseat and started using that same artistic expression within my wardrobe and makeup. In doing that, I noticed my confidence grew. With the noticeable growth in confidence other women in my likeness would want to know where I got my clothing, makeup, and accessories. That’s when I knew I had a natural knack for Influencing. The rest is history.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a plus sized influencer and brand ambassador. What sets me apart is the fact that I’m literally not. I’m relatable. I’m all natural. I have curves and cellulite. I’m a nerd and I have a great sense of humor. I’m just like all my followers. I’m not some snooty rich influencer who doesn’t truly care about their followers. I’m raw, I have the same issue as each and every one of my supporters. That’s what makes me so different.
It took me a while to get where I am today. A lot of finding what type of photos worked and unleashing my inner baddie but once she was out there was no containing me. The journey taught me many things, but the biggest one was not to compare my self and my progress to others. You will make it, it may not be on your time and you won’t like that. Be patient. Stay consistent and love what you do. The results will be there.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite places to go here in Houston are: Taste Bar, Modern Ink Gallery, Lotus Seafood, McGovern Centennial Garden, and the graffiti art on Leland.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My list of people to thank are endless but the most important people in my life would be God, My mother Natalye, my partner Brelin (@zootedshooter) and my two best friends Jana’e (@jay.latrice) and Courtnee. (@elexistx) and my good friend De’Jah (@madjahmusic). Those people are my biggest cheerleaders. Honestly without them I would have given up a long time ago. They all are amazingly talented as well.
My mother has many talents. She was a model, a part of drum corp, does archery and more. She put all that aside to assume the role of “mommy” I couldn’t be more thankful for her. She has had my back in countless situations and has taught me how to navigate this crazy thing called life. She is my reason.
Brelin is a very talented photographer. He also is the man behind 99% of my pictures. He’s so passionate about what he does and you can tell that in every single photo. His drive and raw talent is so admirable. Booking with him will be the best choice you’ve ever made..
Courtnee is a musical artist. Her music takes over your body it’s THAT good. Sleeping on her would be a big mistake. If you don’t know about ElexisTx now you know!!! Check out her music and stream her everywhere!
I have no words to describe the talent of Jana’e. She is an artist and painter. Her pieces literally blow my mind every single time. If you ever need any artistic work Jana’e is the one to book with.
De’Jah is also a musical artist. I’ve been rocking with her music far before we became as close as we are today. The passion that she puts into every single song is amazing. Check her out and stream her everywhere!
I love and thank them so much. These are my people. This is my team. When I make it, they make it. When they make it, we make it. It’s for life. I love and am so proud of each and every one of them. It’s only up from here!
