We had the good fortune of connecting with Richelle N. Jones, J.d. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Richelle N., is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the creative success of Nielle Design, LLC, is being people of integrity and keeping our word. If we provide a client with a deadline, it is imperative to meet that deadline. If for some reason we cannot meet a specified deadline, it is important to communicate the necessary updates to our client base to ensure that we keep trust in the working relationship. Having integrity also requires us to be realistic about the projects that we can take on. All projects sent our way are not always actually selected by the design team to complete. If we realize that a project cannot fit into our current project load and the quality of work would be diminished, we thank the potential client for their consideration of Nielle Design, LLC, but respectfully decline and ask that the potential client consider us for future projects.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Nielle Design, LLC is a creative design firm based in Texas. As owner and creative designer, I was never actually taught creative design, and so what sets us apart from others is that creativity and imagination meet when our designs are crafted. We are most proud of the legacy we are building. Currently, Nielle Design, LLC is a team of two–my sister and I. Together, we have managed to meet the demands of corporate and non-profit spaces to assist organizations in amplifying their brand and enhancing their messaging. Hard work and determination are two key ingredients that have guided us to the present. While it has not been easy, it has definitely been worth it. A part of having a small business is committing to learning and being open to change, no matter how uncomfortable. Defining boundaries and finding our voice has been instrumental in us being able to sustain our presence in the creative industry. Finally, a piece of advice that has helped us is that it is okay to respectfully say no.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend was visiting and because we are foodies, we would visit a few of the favorite local eateries like Bungalow Dining, Traveler’s Table, Trill Burger, Brunch and Batter, and Dripped Birria to name a few. We would definitely visit the museum district and hit Market Street in the Woodlands, and maybe even go to SpaWorld. We would catch a movie at iPic-Houston. If the Rockets or Texans were playing, we would attend a game. In my view, some of the most fun, interesting, and exciting things happen spontaneously and it is when you are in the simplest of spaces that you meet the most amazing people.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this Shoutout to the people who support Nielle Design most–my parents, Bishop Ricky and Mrs. Jana Jones. Their support and love are invaluable to Nielle Design’s success.

Additionally, a special shoutout to two of my mentors who always encourage me and provide me with the real (in love)–thank you, Dr. Faith E. Foreman-Hays and Dr. Karen Y. Williams. They are the definition of a glam boss.

A special salute also goes to my sister and brother, Rickeisha Vigoya and Ricky Jones, Jr. Their encouragement and support have held me up in some of the most difficult times.
