We had the good fortune of connecting with Rising Artists Houston and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rising Artists, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
There had been a moment in the middle of an acting class, I thought to myself “it would be nice if I could share all this information with actors who aren’t able to travel to NY or LA for exclusive industry masterclasses.” And here we are. It’s not easy to obtain without the proper planning; it took research and perseverance every single day. It has been the best investment to us and those around us.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What differentiates us from others would be the rate of growth and change we unceasingly experience. God gave us the green light and said “Go!” and with faith, we leaped into His promise. There was a vacancy in the Houston acting community so we took voluntary initiative to create an organization for this specific target market. It wasn’t a matter of having every little detail figure out to get started; we are continuously evolving, learning and studying to exceed the expectations of each workshop and event for our artists. Our journey happens to be the opposite of easy – contrarily, it’s been intricate. But the work has been absolutely worth it! We thrive off participant feedback as we have a growing community of unique artists. Overcoming adversity has been a repeated step for us to reach new levels (pun intended coincidently). With the aide of our artists, the consistency and trustworthiness is how we maintain structure, system and order. We cannot quit, we WILL NOT quit, and we will not fail our members. The lessons we’ve learned along the way is understanding the importance of communication in a business; learning how to communicate with our team, our members and collaborators outside the organization. To the world: We want you to realize that our organization is to simply serve, provide and keep artists creating.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, we give the highest honor and glory to the one true God. When no one else heard us, acknowledged us, or supported us, God remained graceful and merciful while we remained faithful and consistent; a true sentiment of testimony for how God had a plan before we even spoke it. Deke Anderson of Next Level Acting Studios contributed to the development of 3/4 Rising Artists leadership team. His coaching technique for auditioning and commercials landed us many roles. We are grateful for the foundation he has helped us mold. Another excellent acting coach is Kim Tobin. Kim Tobin Acting Studio houses 20 years of training under NY and LA industry instructors and 25 years of acting credits in stage, film and television. Kim’s ability to teach actors how to be who we truly are rather than what we think others want us to be and bringing our own personal meaning to everything we do, which gives us the essentials of authentic, in-the-moment re-acting. Last but certainly not least, we’d like to thank Trey “Dr. Shadow” for providing event accommodations. He has been our BTS camera man, rental property associate and a fantastic director of photography. A big shout out to Troy Rowland Acting Studios; all team members have taken Troy’s classes in Houston. We appreciate his incentives for the Rising Artists organization.
