Meet Sarah Jacobs | Founder of Cake Muse

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Jacobs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Creativity takes courage” – Henri Matisse
This rings true in every manner. Being a creator takes courage even if it doesn’t come naturally. Courage is also what it takes to start a business and continue on. Every dreamer and successful entrepreneur had or has courage. Creating is bringing to life something you envision that someone might love, understand, and commit to OR they could hate it. You never know and it should never stop you from creating.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Cake Muse was born out of the idea to provide luxury sugar flowers that are ready right out of the box! Because I grew up in the industry, I knew what it needed and created a product that solved that need. As someone who knew how to decorate cakes, I didn’t always have time to work out all the tedious decorating techniques and materials needed.
Combining my love of flowers, art, and cake, I was able to create a company that fit me perfectly.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite cities is Paris. This is a city that is filled with art, history, romance, modernity; it’s all there! When visiting, my list tends to be very long in terms of spots. The best way to visit Paris is to BE IN PARIS. Rent a nice apartment and just live for a bit. Whether you have 3 days or 3 months, the best part of Paris is strolling through the streets. the markets. enjoying the leisurely life. Some of my favorite spots include the Left Bank, you must stop by for a cozy dinner at La Brasserie Lipp; it’s the brasserie across from the famous cafe, Les Deux Magots. It is always looked over by the tourists but never the locals.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My success stems from my mom, her support and encouragement through the years were monumental. Without a supportive mother, I would absolutely not be where I am today. We have always had a special bond and are the best of friends. But it is truly her love of art and all things creative that make our connection even more special.
I am lucky that my mom works alongside me at Cake Muse as a designer. She helps me navigate ideas through collaborating on preliminary drawings, inspiration boards, and most importantly execution. Mom also is a cake decorator and she knows what clients are looking for as well as what looks best on cakes. Mother’s Day is coming up and this year is especially important because we are growing and learning so much about one another through a new journey together. It’s been really special!
