Meet Sarah Knight | Liscensed Massage Therapist & Reiki Practitioner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Knight and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, what do you attribute your success to?
I think what makes my business successful is my passion, love, and dedication for my craft, and the way I am able to help others through it. I struggled a lot through my early 20’s trying to find my way in the world and what to do with my life. I had always heard of people finding their passion and making a career out of it, and I always wanted that so very much for my life. When I was 25, I went back to school to study massage therapy after things not working out with previous other avenues, and within the first week, I knew that this was the true path for me. I dove head first into it and made every effort to ensure success. I truly love what I do, and it does not feel like work, which is incredible. Using my natural strengths while being able to help people in a meaningful way every day really has brought me so much fulfillment and purpose in life, and for that I am extremely grateful and feel very blessed.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is very authentically me. I’m regularly told by clients that my massage experience is unlike anything they have had before. I have loved getting massages my whole life, so I crafted the basis of what I do around giving the experience that I would want. And in doing so I think it has made a very positive impact that people really seem to enjoy. I incorporate numerous modalities, utilize many different tools and amenities, and continue to grow my skill set every year. I am a very spiritual person and that plays a big part in the way I approach my practice. A lot of my clients refer to me as a healer, and I find it a great honor to be recognized as one. I was very fortunate and was able to open my practice as soon as I acquired my license, which is not something I was planning on doing so soon after. The universe lined things up and I was presented an opportunity, I had to be bold and seize it in the moment. It was like a hand was extended asking, “Do you want it?” I had confidence in my abilities as a therapist and all the excitement to do something bigger with it, so I took the chance. It paid off. I think when you are aligned with your true purpose, things flow and it comes easy. I’ve been very fortunate that things took off as well as they did, but I also put an enormous amount of focus, effort, and hard work into growing it and getting it to flourish. It’s been well worth every moment.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As far as my favorite places in the city that I would love to take a good friend around to, I’ve got some beloved areas. We would do a day around Montrose, starting with brunch of course. I love walking through the area and stopping into antique stores, and generally all the interesting shops and cafes in the area. Another day would be spent hiking at Brazos Bend State Park, it’s one of my very favorite places to be. My next activity would be a day at Spa World in Katy. It is an amazing Korean day spa that you can immerse yourself in for hours and leave feeling super recharged. For a dinner out, one of my favorite restaurants is Keepers sushi along highway 6, absolutely the best! And a day at the Houston Museum of Natural Science is a must, the exhibits are so captivating, interesting, and beautiful.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to Avalon School of Massage and my mom. I received an amazing education and training in massage therapy from Avalon. My teachers gave me a wonderful foundation for my skill set and motivated me to open my own practice. And my mom was the person who encouraged me to go back to school and very generously paid for my tuition. She has always been my biggest cheerleader. So grateful for all of her support in every form!
