We had the good fortune of connecting with Savannah Mayfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Savannah, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
For me when I decided to leave my steady corporate paying job. I wanted it to be for something that made me happy. To be somewhere that my ideas were being accepted and not turned down. I was searching for a career that I could be creative and make things with my hands turning something from a before to an after. I found joy in event planning and floral design, That’s why I founded my own event styling company “Blooms and Cheers”.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I believe that working in both the retail and event planning industries, has definitely prepared me for a lot of different situations. Customer service is HARD(shout out to the girls & boys hustling in it.) I’m a very relatable person, I have always treated my clients, the way I would like to be treated as a client or guest(The golden rule).

I’m most excited for 2021, we all needed 2020 to just end!! I’m also excited about the new products clients can order form me. I now offer: Contactless Flower Deliveries, Flower Crown Kits, “Succs we couldn’t” … Boxes, Mini Table set-ups. I got here by putting myself 1st. I know that might sound selfish, but it’s true. I had to take a step back and find out what made me happy. I’ve definitely learned that you can’t make everyone happy all at the same time, and that’s okay. I want the world to know that now more then ever you have to support Small businesses, Shop local and #supportyourfriendsandfamily it’s so easy to find someone local using IG, Facebook groups, or just ask around.

Dream big! Be Grateful! & Be Nice.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love when my friends and family visit me in Houston, I’m always proud to show off my adopted City. I’m originally from a small town in West Texas shout out to Abilene,Texas. Showing off the big city to my family and friends from back home is always fun! I’ve been a houstonian since 2005. We do live in a way different time because of covid but I’m going to imagine that covid never happened. I live in the galleria area so I definitely don’t have to go far to get to some of my favorite places.

For cajun food: A Houston must! Pappadeaux is always good to me.(The Original one on Westheimer near the galleria) For Viet-Cajun: LA crawfish is delicious. For Mexican my little family loves La Tapatia( we have a waiter that knows us by name😂) El patio has a THE Best blue margarita Ever! Their queso is also to die for. Kasra persian grill makes the absolute best hummus in Houston. My favorite dive sports bar is The Deck. Cheap drinks and good bar food. They even boil a good crawfish when in season. Plus make the best steak on Monday night aka steak night. For Happy Hour McCormick & Schmick’s has a good drink and food menu. Reverse happy hour at Miyako serves up some good sushi and sake bombs. Date Night: MAD is a cool place to people watch and have a fun drinks at the bar. For a Fancy Dinner Steak 48 is my top pick the lobster Crab mac and cheese is overwhelming delicious. Boho tea is also a guilty pleasure of mine. Tea House has hundreds of combinations. For Vietnamese coffee I’m in love with 7 Leaves Cafe. For a Sweet treat we love Crave cupcake, and yogurtland. Site seeing: Herman Park is wonderful, Discovery Green, The Water wall. The Galleria itself is a one stop shop, if they don’t have it at the Galleria you, don’t need it lol. If there is a Game I love to show off the Juice box Go Stros!!! You can’t come to Houston for a week and not take a day trip to Galveston! Beach days are the best days🏖️. For my Beauty needs: Switch 2 Pure and Bluemercury are my go to spots. For night life(bear with me it’s been awhile) 77° has a really cool view of downtown. Barbarella’s on Thursday night has 90s night, you can dance the night away. Bisou has a really cool restaurant club vibe. Anywhere in the District is fabulous from food to shopping.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely have to Shout-out my Husband {Jarryd Mayfield}. Without him I probably wouldn’t have started my business. He supported me quitting my job, and encouraged me to take sometime to find out what I wanted to do. He listens to all my crazy visions, and helps me turn them into reality. He’ll do whatever it takes to make sure my business is successful. From delivery flowers to helping me set up events, to even just staying up with me until I finish a project, just so I’m not alone. This year we will make 11 years together, married for 6 of those years.
