Meet Selene Faz | Craftswoman & Event Planner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Selene Faz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Selene, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I never tought I would start making piñatas. Nobody taught me how to make a piñata, but I would sometimes make one as a hobby ever since I was a little girl. Fastforward, when my son turned 2 I had the idea to make a piñata for him, since we had a lot of free time at home because of the pandemic. That was the beginning of my piñata journey that eventually turned into Pintiño Piñatas. Every year for his birthday I would continue to make piñatas for him. Friends and family started asking me about the piñatas when they saw them at his birthday parteis and started asking me if I could make one for them. I trurly enjoy making piñatas and to be able to create experiences for each celebration, so I started to make piñatas only for close friends until one friend started to refer me to her friends and the rest is history, Pintinho Pinatas was born and I slowly started incorporating other birthday party items with my piñatas, like cake toppers.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey has been long—this isn’t my first venture. Over the years, I’ve grown as an artist and learned to do things even when I’m afraid, because in the end, you always grow.
Making and creating piñatas combines creativity, patience, and tradition. It’s so much more than putting materials together: it’s giving magic to ideas, bringing paper to life, and transforming cardboard into figures that spark joy.
With piñatas, I feel like a magician who can tell stories, represent characters or symbols that connect with people during moments of celebration.
I enjoy the entire process, from designing to witnessing the excitement of those who receive them.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend came to visit me in The Woodlands, I’d plan a fun and memorable experience. We’d start the day with breakfast at Levure cafe a , followed by a peaceful walk along The Waterway or through the George Mitchell Nature Preserve.
Then we’d head down to Houston to visit NASA—it’s a must-see, especially for someone who’s never been. After exploring space history and exhibits, we’d stop for some authentic Texas BBQ at one of my favorite True Bbq.
Back in The Woodlands, we’d stroll through Market Street for shopping and maybe catch a sunset by the lake at Hughes Landing. If there’s a soccer game happening nearby—whether it’s local or pro—we’d definitely try to go. we’d stop for dinner at Xalisco, that’d be the perfect way to end the day.
It would be a great mix of nature, culture, good food, and fun!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family its my biggest support and inspiration in life. My husband always supports my crazy creative ideas. My son enjoying life though his eyes and innocence is my greatest inspiration. Finaly, my mom and dad, although, they are far, they always get excited with me.
