We had the good fortune of connecting with Shamari Banks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shamari, what do you attribute your success to?
Success for myself and my business is measured in the impact my brand has on our community.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The S.P.O.T. uniquely offers educational and social services and resources that can be used for the entire family. We pride ourselves on being able to assist parents/guardians, children and even teachers with the resources and services we have to offer.

The most exciting new development of The S.P.O.T. is the creation of The Day Off Project! The primary objective of The Day Off Project is to shed light on the necessity of personal time away from work for teachers and other professionals. In the early stages of the development of this project, a survey was sent out to over 30 teachers, anonymously, to provide data to support the project objective.

I have been blessed to use my personal experience as an educator and student to help develop and drive my business. It has not been easy because I started the business after relocating to Houston, where I had minimal connections.

I want the world to know that my passion for the academic, social and economical success of myself and others can be seen in the work of The S.P.O.T. I want everyone to be on the lookout for The Day Off Project and how this small idea will make a major impact on what we view as traditional now.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite spots in the city are the nature spots! I would take my friends on a nice 3 mile walk at Memorial Park, we could have a nice picnic with the beautiful skyline backdrop at Buffalo Bayou Park, and down south to Surfside Beach.

I thoroughly enjoy casual dining with moderate price, so we would definitely visit restaurants like: Yardhouse, Gloria’s Latin Cuisine, Bar Louie, RA Sushi and more.

I also appreciate all of the shopping that can be done around the city and would love to take someone to visit The Galleria Mall, Katy Mills Mall and areas in the Post Oak neighborhood.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout every person that has liked, shared, or commented on a business post on all social platforms. Additionally, I would specifically like to thank my circle of friends and family who have listened to business plans, provided input on ideas, and have just simply been a listening ear during the growth of my business.
