We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherrel Lemon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sherrel, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I think that risk taking is a crucial part of learning living and understanding oneself. Coming to terms with the fact that we are only here for a moment and time really is the motivation for taking risks. So like when we fail so what we’re all gonna die nobody cares. Take a moment to face the fears that are really associated with taking risks and it’s really not that big of a deal I mean, of course we have to be responsible. We have to pay bills. We have to do the things necessary for us to live and be contributing members of society, but if something lives within me or within anyone, I think we should just do it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art and gift is service. At Tipsy Treats we don’t take any shortcuts nor cut any corners. This is what sets us apart from others. I think we really do our best to create an amazing atmosphere and high quality product every day. The food that we make special because these are recipes that I Have fun memories of eating while I was a child. My entire family can cook really well . I think that I’ve gotten where I am today wherever that is by just showing up and continuing to work and push through no matter what happens I think that what I do is easy and difficult at times easy because I love what I do and difficult because unfavorable things are going to happen no matter what. The challenge is how I respond and not necessarily what’s going to take place. I have no control over anything except my response to issues. I think it’s important to persevere and say good things to yourself always and no matter what you’re facing. Lessons I’ve learned along the way are to not worry because it hasn’t solved anything. I’ve learned to pivot and change with the flow of the business. I’ve learned how to, really motivate people by focusing on those good things always . That money doesn’t grow on trees I’ve learned to stand up for myself and what I want and what I think is right in business I’ve learned to believe in myself and what I think I want people to know that Tipsy Treats is a good place. We only use fresh ingredients and we cook with love and our food touches people’s hearts.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were in town, I take them to eat because that’s what we do. I would go to Lucha for amazing fried chicken. I would also go to listen to some jazz music at the El Dorado ballroom or the Wortham
Theatre. We would go have ice cream at milk and sugar. Probably drive to the beach and stay at the San Luis And drink wine at Roots

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes, of course. I’d like to recognize my team that work alongside me at Tipsy Treats. I’d like to thank my sister, my mother, my children and my husband. All these people put up with me so I’m grateful.
