We had the good fortune of connecting with Siddhant (Sidd) Chauhan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Siddhant (Sidd), what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Pursuing an artistic career was kind of an accidental discovery for me. My dad is super into taking getting high-quality photos and during those days with the amount of knowledge I had having a good camera was the answer. It was in the summer after high school, the time when you’re just kind of waiting for things to start for college and gearing up to move out. I had a lot of free time and I decided to figure out everything there is to know about taking a good photo. It was from watching different Instagram creators to watching every youtube video possible on how to pose, how to learn about different camera aspects, figuring out different types of cameras to anything you name it. Over time I asked some of my friends to model for and at first, it took work to figure out things. I had to learn how to edit before I even learned how to get a better composition. All of this eventually led to people asking me for my rates which I was surprised to have been placed at such a level. After doing some initial photoshoots I realized I had so much fun doing them I wanted to make it something which could become a side hustle and be something that’s genuinely fun to do.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I initially started my career by studying biomedical sciences at Texas A&M University and my Sophomore year I had switched to Public Health after realizing the classes were a better match. Junior year, I was preparing by taking premed selective courses but it was during this time I wanted to ensure before applying to medical school. During this time, I went to some free seminars on learning about Data Science my free time which planted the seed for where I will end up working. After graduating with my BS in public Health and as the pandemic had started I wanted to get some formal education in Analytics and data science so I had the opportunity to attend McCombs School of Business at UT Austin for a 10 month MS program. 2021 I graduated from the program and after a long job search ended up signing up Accenture as a Analyst in Artificial Intelligence starting this coming September. The process was not easy and there were times when switching came with challenges and doubting myself but what kept me going was my interest in always learning new things. I wanted to find something that really sparked by interest rather than just following my interest. Over time while all this was going on I read more books and exposed myself do different mental models which pushed to share my ideas and share different findings by teaching it to others and making blog posts which could provide value to anyone interested.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
