We had the good fortune of connecting with Souki Fournier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Souki, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to create a marketing agency that specializes in content marketing. The concept of my business combines my Masters in marketing and my passion for writing and storytelling. Many companies hire marketing agencies to build their brand and extend their reach, but one thing that sometimes is missing in their strategy is the storytelling aspect of it. People are looking for brands they connect with and share the same values. My goals is to help businesses tell their story in a way their audience will engage with
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I run a marketing agency that specialized in content marketing. We work with businesses to help create their brand, build their online presence, and attract their ideal clients. What set’s us apart from other marketing agencies is our content-focused approach. Contrary to popular belief, marketing is not just about data, numbers, and sales. There is an entire storytelling aspect of it that businesses can leverage to reach their goals. People that we work with, are able to connect with their clients on a much deeper level, which ultimately increases their exposure and sales. I am most proud of the amazing people I have met and have gotten the chance to work with. The most gratifying thing is to see my clients grow and reach their business goals. I am extremely passionate about what I do, so a win for my clients is also a win for me. As we all know, entrepreneurship is not an easy route. It comes with its fair share of challenges and I certainly had to go through that. It was definitely not easy. It took a lot of work, but it’s worth it. Throughout the way, I learned that no matter how lonely entrepreneurship can be, you can’t do it alone. You need to ask for help. I want the world to know that marketing is not a one-size-fits-all. Your brand and online presence need to align with your values if you want to make an impact in this work. I can tell a story like nobody else can, and I can leverage that to help people build their business, reach their ideal clients, and generate more sales.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If we had a week, we would start the day with breakfast in Downtown, or maybe brunch. I would take them to visit the space center, the museum district. We would go on hikes or bike rides in the Buffalo Bayu park, then shop vintage stores on 19th street in the Heights We would also do a day trip in Galveston island and spend the day at the beach, and take an Instagram worthy picture in front of the Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Throughout my journey, I have met amazing people who’ve contributed to where I am today. My family of course comes to mind. Their help and support enabled me to keep going and never give up. A few work colleagues and managers have provided me the guidance and mentorship I needed. The biggest game-changer for me and what really helped me jumpstart my entrepreneurial journey was my husband. When I met up, the idea of building my business had formed in my head, but I was completely lost and not even sure if I could pull it off. His love, support, and encouragement helped me trust myself, believe in myself, and give it a try. He is and always has been my biggest cheerleader, and he most certainly deserves credit and recognition in my story.
