We had the good fortune of connecting with Steven Watts and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Steven, what do you attribute your success to?
Being honest and doing the right thing. Firm Believer in the Business Karma Fairy and following the Golden Rule has worked best for me
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What im most proud about would have to be the portfolio ive put together over the years and work of art ive managed to create in almost every demographic you could think of, and using the years of work to fine tune my niche and finally be able to take more risks and create things i never had imagined i would be able to do.
How i got to where i am today… woof… man thats a loaded question. basically since 2011 ive been all in on this journey not really sure where it was all going to end up but i never quit. i never threw in that towel despite being times when i didnt see any other options. my stubbornness and all in attitude really is what pushed me thru to get here where i am now. am i over the hill living the easy life? nope… times now are just as intimidating and unknown to be honest but atleast now i got the experience behind me to know theres a little buffer room ahead and thats nice.
The lessons ive learned along the way… lol man thats another loaded question. One of the biggest ones without a doubt would be to listen to my gut. 100% i cant think of a time when i was in a position where my gut was telling me one thing and my brain was saying another and after it was all said and done my gut was on point. the other would be that without taking the risks i have taken over the years i wouldnt of made some huge decisions that im glad i did looking back and sometimes you got to just go for it and trust in yourself that it will work out. cause even if it doesnt you will learn from it and thats a very valuable thing too to have on your toolbelt.
What id want the world to know about me and my brand is that theres artists out there like me who never in a million years ever get to show their work to so many people and im grateful for being one of the lucky few who somehow got the opportunity to do so and hope i get to continue to do so for as long as i can.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
this is where im lacking in life, a social one being really all i do is work but if my friend was coming into town we’d load up and hit up some local gun ranges, poke some holes into targets, grab some breakfast tacos from Sofy’s Taqueria in spring, go annoy my dad whos always a good chat then maybe some pool at barneys i dont really know to be honest. lol i havent even eaten inside a restaurant in years… true story.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The folks responsible for my success would 100% have to be my customers over the years and my supporters on social media for sure. without them I wouldnt be here today and they keep me motivated to keep creating and making awesome stuff.
