We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydnee Kalberer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydnee Kalberer, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process was a long process. When you think of business, you think of tall buildings , millionaires, and financial freedom. No one prepares you for the preparation , the 24/7 hard work, the research , and the process to becoming your own business entity. It’s hard and exhausting , but the progress is a never ending motivation to going harder .

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is relation and realism. When other hairstylists recognize my face they find a place of comfort enough to let me mentor and show them what I’ve learned. Every person I come across I make a mark on. And I don’t create fantasies, just for a sale. Long term is far more rich than temporary . I’ve gotten where I am today from risk. Moving out of my mom’s house for the first time , and deciding to move to a big city where I knew no one. Doing hair for free so I can have a preparation of content in order to attract more clients. I over came these challenges by celebrating every win. It doesn’t matter if I woke up super early and got ready to make content with no clients. I’m celebrating the hustle. Progress is forever motivation. A lesson that I’ve learned in this industry, is you have to be a little arrogant . There’s 100s of people doing exactly what you are , if you’re not making yourself important in your head why would they? YOU know what you bring to the table. I want the world to know that no matter how successful I look, I progress everyday in every aspect. I am not the same person I was yesterday.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Now me being new to Houston id still say I need a little bit of showing around lol. But a restaurant that I can say is 10/10 and I can eat ANYTHING and be pleased is Toulouse in River Oaks District. A little bit of fun I would definitely go on Washington street, and hop around for the vibes. The most exciting thing in Houston is there is ALWAYS something going on. Whether it’s a festival, concert, trail ride, or nba/ nfl game, you will never be bored !

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can’t say that I’ve did everything all by myself, because the support was tremendous . My mom and dad are two people who congratulate me and give me recognition everyday. My tio , has guided and mentored me in so many ways for business . And last but not least my good friend Jasmine who motivated me and made me feel so comfortable in a new city. They all inspire me in so many different ways.
