We had the good fortune of connecting with The Player Twins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi The Player Twins, every day, we know about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
We’re Beauty Influencers with a love for sharing knowledge for all things beauty, skincare, and fashion. We launched our YouTube channel after Trenchelle posted a video about her journey with a prescription skincare product. We were surprised at the number of views the video received. This sparked the idea that there was an interest in skincare etc. Also ever since our college days at PVAMU, we are asked what makeup products are we wearing and where did we purchase an outfit from. All of these occurrences along with a strong desire to inspire others with knowledge led us to put into motion our YouTube Channel and Instagram. Our social media platform has expanded to include skincare and makeup tutorials, workout routines, clothing hauls along with our Amazon favorites and so much more.
Please tell us more about your business. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What sets us apart from others is that we are TWINS! We are similar but have different unique perceptions that we bring to our social media platforms. We are most proud of the fact that we have gone after our passion and created this platform on YouTube and Instagram. It has been so humbling to have a brand or business trust us with a collaboration.
Nope! It has not been an easy process. We have had to balance working full-time jobs as we set daily, weekly and monthly goals. Faith and passion working interchangeably have strengthened our desire to achieve. Planning out our days to create and execute content has been challenging, but oh so rewarding.
The number one lesson we have learned along the way is to celebrate our accomplishments big and small. We want the world to know that we love to create & share content and want to continue to collaborate with others. Inspiring women by helping them find a good drugstore foundation, a good edge control, a healthy snack, or showing a clothing haul from a popular online clothing site as well as share our traveling experiences to exciting places near and far.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Love, Love this question! We would suggest to them to start by having a morning jog at Memorial Park. Then if food were on the agenda (of course it would be this is Houston right) we would suggest breakfast at The Breakfast Klub ( wings and waffles are our recommendation) or a visit to Grace’s, Lucille’s, or even Shipley donuts. We both suggest spending the rest of the day taking in the sights and sounds of Third Ward and the Museum District. Great lunch and beverages are to be had at either Lost & Found, Bar 5015, Moxie’s, Frank’s Pizza, and of course Frenchy’s. You did say a week, right? The next stop a photo session at the “Houston Is Inspired Mural”. Now a little shopping at the Buffalo Soldier Museum monthly Blck Market and The Galleria Mall. A relaxing dinner at Pappadeaux’s, Steak 48, or Mastro’s and then enjoying a flick at Rooftop Cinema Club would top off a visit.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our mother has supported us all our lives and throughout this journey. She is continuously rooting for us every step of the way. We are blessed to have her support. Our entire family is supportive. We also would like to give credit to other women influencers and business owners. When we see them achieve and go after their passions this has created a motivating force on our influencer journey. We love to see others win!
