We had the good fortune of connecting with Treva Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Treva, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Thank God! I didn’t allow my adversity to determine my destiny! My upbringing was very challenging as a child and I learned at a young age to survive. I’m grateful for the spiritual foundation that kept me from decisions that could have turned out differently. I’m truly blessed to be where I am today!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Be true to the gift that God has blessed you with. What sets me apart from others is my style of singing and learning to be diverse. Sanchez Harley really challenge me in how to tell the story when you sing. It wasn’t easy at all but to be a great artist you have to learn along the way. It’s like painting a picture, you outline it first and then you fill it in. When I stand before those who is needing a word of encouragement,my prayer is that I can meet them right where they are!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best time ever would be a great concert and/or show. Go to a nice restaurant and most definitely go to church! I love to be around great energy!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are a some people in my life that really encouraged my musical journey. The late Carl Preacher and Ronald Materre of Inspirational Voices of Praise! GMWA Houston Chapter Mass Choir, The Legends, V. Michael McKay who continues to drop those nuggets. and Producer Sanchez Harley who continues to orchestrates the music.
