We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, what do you attribute your success to?
The Most important factor behind my success is is walking in my purpose. Which, in many way s it to be a servant to my community. As a therapist, mental health conversationalist and speaker, and an event curator, I believe that I am answering a call to create spaces for people to grow. Being able to do that for so many years is a success in itself.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have a few businesses that have a unique way of intersecting. First, I own a private practice called Prodigy Wellness that is a mental health space where I work with individuals, couples, and families with mental health related problems. Second, I am part owner of the Premier Dinner Party Group which. We specialize in hosting upscale, networking events for the community and providing a variety of business resources to our guests. Lastly, I am the founder of More Than Mimosas which is a women’s empowerment group that focuses on strengthening women through community. None of this is easy! but I didn’t go into with of these spaces with the expectation that it would be. I rely heavily on my community ( my parents, friends, business partners, and my own therapist) to overcome the many challenges I face. The biggest lesson I’ve learned in building all of this is that I can’t be selfish with my calling. It took my a while to be confident in myself enough to walk in my purpose. But, I realized that my calling is bigger than me and to not walk in it means withholding something that someone else is in need of. Because of that, I can’t take any part of what I do lightly. When you see me, or anything I’m doing, know that it’s all on purpose.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my business partner of The Premier Dinner Party Group, Marquan Williams. He was actually one of the first people to encourage me to host my own events instead of just speaking at others. Since the onset of our partnership, we’ve hosted over 100 successful networking events in different cities including Dallas, Houston, and LA. We’ve bounced ideas off each other, fought like brother and sister, and created an immense amount of synergy between other business owners and entrepreneurs. He drives me crazy but he pushes the greateness out of me. And Im thankful for that.
