We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica Cisneros and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Veronica, what role has risk played in your life or career?
As an artist, I take a risk any time I decide to share my work. Whether it’s privately sharing my work with a friend or sharing my work online with the general public, I’m taking a risk. To share my work is to expose my truest essence and open myself up to judgment and criticism. But in order to shine my light & share my joy, I must take that risk. Honestly, I don’t really like taking that risk all the time; it’s extremely uncomfortable, and it does feel kind of dangerous. I like to stay safe in my little cave and keep my work in the dark so that I’m not so vulnerable. Ultimately, taking risks, being vulnerable, sharing my joy and shedding light on my gifts is what will lead me to more opportunities to create more of my art and collaborate with other artists. Please do expect me to start taking more risks.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The very essence of me is creative. I would even say that my name is synonymous with the word “creativity,” because I infuse my creative essence in to everything I do and make. Right now what I’m focusing on the most is my singing and songwriting. I’ve been a writer all my life, and music has always been a huge part of who I am. These past few years, I’ve been so drawn to developing my singing voice, my poetry, and my style as an artist, and I’ve been doing so very quietly in my free time in the comfort of my cave. I have so much to say and sing, and I look forward to expressing everything I feel guided to express in divine time. As I continue to grow as a singer and songwriter, I’d like to eventually begin collaborating with other likeminded artists and musicians. I think it would be more fun that way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a museum person, so we’d definitely hit up the Museum district, probably several times so that we can visit each museum. A walk to and at the McGovern Centennial Gardens post museum visit is always a must. Another place I like to visit, especially with my kids, is Pop Fancy Dessert Bar in Bellaire. There’s always a fun theme, the menu has fun choices that coincide with the theme, and it’s also a cosplay cafe, so that makes it really fun. And, I love concerts, so let’s catch a show at 713 Music Hall.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to all of the people who consistently show up for me and support my art with their heartfelt encouragement and love.
