Meet Walter Barreda

We had the good fortune of connecting with Walter Barreda and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Walter, what do you attribute your success to?
I truly believe the important factor behind our success is that we find way to plant seeds into our community because we know that in order to see change, we must be change. God gave us this world to cultivate with instructions to how we do it. What you put out into the atmosphere will bring a harvest. Plant what you want to receive. A lot of us feel that we are lacking in areas of are life because we choose to be something that we are not. If we desire love, then we must put out love and love regardless of the circumstances. God has made us stronger than you can imagine. If you only knew how Jesus sees you. The reason we are blessed with grace and mercy is because when we were created, we were created good. I am so grateful that God sees his creation and not what the world is trying to label us as. We are free and saved now it’s time to heal. We must go inside to change what we are seeing and feeling in the physical. You are capable. You are strong. You were created to overcome. Everything you need you have and what you don’t have God will provide. The things you want are not promised only the things that are aligned with your needs. Jesus is simply just building the relationship.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The ReUp Movement is built on the right foundation. The seeds that we have planted and are planting now are bringing us great harvest. When we started, we served 60 brisket sandwiches and two cases of water. In that moment I felt God was doing a miracle to allow me to serve that much to his people, but I had no earthly idea how many doors would be opened through my obedience. From that simple act we have been able to not only increase in the amount we have been able to serve but we have expanded our territory. When creating this organization, the goal has always been “Every city – Every state” then move globally. One of the most impactful moments along this journey so far has to be going to assist Lake Charles after hurricane “Ida”. Due to Courtney Brown’s direct connection and powerful effort leading the way, we were able to service up to 600 families at one time. we raised over $3,500 from a $1 challenge video we posted on our social media. We also partnered up with other organizations and local Supporters and we served on another level. Not only did we serve the most people ever we reached another city and state. I was a big cry baby about that, and Courtney may not say it, but he was too. What makes us who we are is our passion to serve and our Godly love we share. Our focus and prayer are that through us God can show up in your life on another level. That something simple as an act of kindness can impact your life forever. We understand that in order to do Gods work we must submit out selves to opening up for the Holy Spirit to move in the atmosphere. The best compliment I’ve ever received from someone that we were serving. The gentlemen said ” A lot of people come out here and serve us food and donations, but it doesn’t feel like this. Yawl bring an energy that I can carry with me to keep moving forward. We need more of yawl out here.” That right there confirmed so much for me and was exactly what I needed to hear. Fighting the world to do Gods work is not an easy task. If you are not careful and listening to the directions on how to move, you can get overworked and crashing. I’ve done it plenty of times before, but it is a part of establishing balance in your service. what I want the world to know is we are here, and we are moving to the world we see through Gods eyes. Everything he created was good and we will focus on that good. We know that there will be challenges but we know Jesus will make the way for his will to be done.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One thing about Houston we have a lot of great art, graffiti, and main attractions.
I would definitely take them around the city to do a photo shoot in front of amazing graffiti art designs, gardens, restaurants, museums, and people. Houston is very multicultural, so we get to experience so many different cultures. We have a chance to taste their food and hear their lingo but most importantly we get to fellowship. God is in all of us regardless of where we come from. Love looks the same on everybody.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would first like to give the Glory to our lord and savior Jesus Christ. He has done some deep work with me to get me where I am today. I am beyond grateful for my wife who has helped any way possible and has pushed me to achieve beyond my goals. I would like to thank my family for the amazing support through all my transitions and accomplishments. I would also like to thank my friends for being a major support system through this whole process of building. Last but not least I would like to thank everyone that has allowed God to use The ReUp Movement to provide them with resources and love. Thank you for being in a place to receive what God has for you.
