We had the good fortune of connecting with Yesenia Bernard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yesenia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process for starting my business, first and foremost, was to fulfill my god given purpose in life. Second, to create a business that would allow me the freedom to use my talent and to express my creativity and passion as a stylist and designer. Lastly, to eventually transition from my HR professional career to a full-time entrepreneur.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
BP BLVD (Balloon Party Blvd) is a party and event styling business that creates epic fashionable parties that are unique in every way; I manage the planning, design, and production of each event. As the creative director, I also offer a personal styling service that can manage the selection of the attire of the client. I believe that offering a personal styling option does set BP BLVD apart from others. I’ve always had a passion for fashion design and interior design which I incorporate these two concepts with all the events I create for each client. My proudest moment was being featured by Kara’s Party Ideas just a couple of months after launching my brand via IG. It was a surreal moment for me.
Getting to where I am today has been a combination of sleepless nights and hard work; maintaining a work-life balance has been challenging while being a wife and mom. But with dedication and the strength god gives me everyday, keeps my motivation and my momentum going.
Lessons I’ve learned along the way is that I am human and not perfect; what is meant for me will work within the timeframe that is for me, and it’s ordained by god. I’ve learned to trust god’s perfect timing.
What I want the world to know about my brand is that it represents sophistication, beauty, and stunning designs that make your memories profound & everlasting.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston is a such a multi-cultural city that every part of the city has so much to offer when it comes to good food, entertainment, and interesting places to visit. On the itinerary, I would definitely have listed a stroll through the museum district, visiting the art museum for sure and lunch in the Heights. Next, a visit downtown Houston to explore the beautiful historic buildings and gorgeous hotels that have been recently built. Lastly, I would visit several different suburbs and the living and shopping experience each suburb has to offer; including the running trails and restaurants and pavilions in the Woodlands.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I would like to give all the credit to god who gives me the strength to fulfill my purpose, and for giving me favor with this business venture. All the success with BP BLVD thus far has been because of God. Second, I would like to recognize my husband and my daughter for being my support system. My husband is the best business partner I could have and the best person who has given me encouragement throughout this process. Since my daughter was born she gives me the motivation and the drive to be consistent in everything I do. She is the drive and the fuel behind my motivation to continue to build a firm foundation for BP BLVD.
