We had the good fortune of connecting with Davonne Lawson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Davonne, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of our business is our customer’s “Dash Pack”. Everything we have done and accomplished wouldn’t be possible if people didn’t believe in what were doing. We pride ourselves on Organization, transparency, and being family-oriented. Here at Dash Elite, you are more than just a customer.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
After being in sports all of my life, I knew my career choice had to center around sports. I started coaching when I was 22 years old and fell in love with that aspect of sports. I coached for various AAU basketball teams trying to gain experience but always felt unfulfilled. Something about seeing some programs suck the life and joy out of kids really bothered me. Just 26 years old, I decided to start my own program called Dash Elite with two other friends (Coach Niko and Coach TJ).

Running a business is no joke. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from UTSA and decide to get my teaching certification, so owning a business wasn’t at the forefront of my plans. I am the Director of Finances, Human Resources, and Customer Service for Dash Elite and had no idea what i was doing. After countless hours of research and making plenty of mistakes, I have become more knowledgeable and still have so much to learn.

I want everyone to know that Dash Elite is here to stay and become one of the best Youth Sports programs in the US. Dash Elite is not only for Basketball, but in the future, we plan on Opening a Sports Complex so young athletes can come together and play the sports they love.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m really a home body being that I’m married and have 2 kids (3 year old daughter and son on the way)

But…….

I would take them to the world famous Breakfast Klub, then go see some Art in the Museum district.

If it was a weekend I would take them to the BLCK Market to shop and go to Waller County Line BBQ

Probably have lunch at Perry’s Steakhouse, then go to NASA

Eat Brunch at Taste Kitchen and grab drinks at Height Beer Garten

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s been many people that have shaped the person I have become. I was the type of kid that learned from other by watching and listening. My parents referred to me as “Old Man” because instead of playing with the kids, I wanted to be in all of the adult conversations and just learn.

With that being said, My main Shoutout has to go to my beautiful Mom. Raising 3 Boys as a Single mother is a tall feat, but my mom made it look easy. She used her military service experience to instill great qualities in me and my brothers. She passed her work ethic, charisma, positive outlook on life, and God-fearing spirit onto me.
