We had the good fortune of connecting with Dayane Lima and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dayane, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started my own business, my main motivation was to make a positive impact on the lives of families during the crucial phases of pregnancy and postpartum. Having worked as a Newborn Care Specialist, Sleep Consultant, and Doula/ Perinatal Educator, I recognized the need for personalized support and guidance for parents.

I wanted to create a space where I could offer not just services but also share my knowledge to empower families. Parenthood is a transformative journey, and my goal was to be a reliable ally for families, providing expert advice, and creating a supportive community.

Starting my own business allowed me the freedom to tailor my services to the unique needs of each family. Overall, my business is a reflection of my passion for helping parents navigate the challenges of parenthood with confidence and joy. I am excited to share my expertise and make a meaningful difference in the lives of families.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Doula and Newborn Care Specialist. What sets my services apart is the personalized support I provide to families throughout pregnancy and postpartum. I am proud of the positive impact I have had on so many new parents and their precious little ones.

My journey in this field was not easy. I faced challenges like any entrepreneur. Acquiring clients and networking were intimidating in the beginning and also being an immigrant, adapting to a new country and being separated from my family added another layer of difficulty to the journey. All of these aspects presented personal challenges I had to confront, but they only fueled my determination to succeed.

One of the key lessons I have learned is the importance of empathy and flexibility. Every family is unique, and being able to tailor my services to their specific needs has been a game-changer. What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that I am here to make the transition into parenthood as smooth as possible. I am dedicated to supporting families, and I believe that with the right guidance and care, they can confidently embrace this beautiful journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s so much to do in the Houston area, but if my best friend is visiting, these are some of the things we would do together. First, we would have a warm welcome with homemade meals to kick off the week. Then, we would explore Sugar Land Town Square with its charming shops and restaurants. There’s a burger place called Guru that serves amazing burgers and signature fries. Afterward, a relaxing afternoon stroll at Oyster Creek Park would be a perfect way to wrap up the first day.

The second day would be all about nature and relaxation. We would head to Brazos Bend State Park for some hiking and enjoy a picnic amidst nature. In the late afternoon, we would book a session at a local LifeSpa in Sugar Land for a massage to unwind and recharge.

On the third day, we would venture into Houston and visit the Space Center Houston for an out-of-this-world experience. Lunch would be at Pappadeaux’s Seafood Kitchen, followed by an art-filled evening at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

Day four would be a culinary delight. We would start our day with breakfast at Common Bond Café & Bakery and then take a leisurely stroll in Hermann Park, visiting the McGovern Centennial Gardens. For dinner, we would explore The Pit Room and indulge in its famous BBQ.

Day five would be perfect for family-friendly fun, starting with a visit to the Houston Zoo in the morning. We would have lunch at Baby Barnaby’s Café and head to the Kemah Boardwalk in the evening for games, rides, and a waterfront dinner.

On the sixth day, we would go to Buffalo Bayou Park to enjoy nice walking trails, scenic views, and possibly rent a kayak for a more adventurous section. Then, we would eat at Eloise Nichols to have a delicious meal and maybe stay for happy hour as well.

Day seven, last but not least, we would go to Gringos Tex-Mex, an authentic Mexican kitchen place with amazing food. It’s one of my favorites places in Houston.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my husband, Joseph, who has been an unwavering supporter in my business journey. He generously covered the cost of my initial training and has consistently been my anchor. His belief in my work has played a pivotal role in my success.

To my parents, though miles apart, have been my moral compass, instilling values that continue to guide me both personally and professionally.

I am deeply grateful to my mentors, Karen Barcelos and Liliane Reis. Their guidance and wisdom have been instrumental in shaping me into a more accomplished businesswoman and an enriched individual.

I would like to give a shoutout to Deborah Galvão, initially a close friend before becoming a client. I have had the joy of working directly with her, being there for her during the birth, and helping take care of her little girl. Deborah, your support means the world to me, and I’m incredibly thankful to have you on this journey with me.

Last but not least, I would also like to extend a big thanks to Houston Voyage Magazine for the opportunity to tell the world my story.
