Meet Sonia | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sonia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sonia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started off as an amateur photographer, taking pictures of family and friends for fun. Pursuing photography was not part of my plans until I started receiving messages from people who were interested in photoshoots. I began to learn more about editing, the different styles of photography and most of all about myself. I learned that I love photography, I love creating and capturing beautiful memories of clients. The more knowledge I had about photography and people, the more confidence I had to manage my business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a stay at home mom and photographer, patience is what sets me aside from being able to relate to most of my clients. Patience is a process when it comes to my own kids, but I learned to put my experiences in action towards photography. Aside from patience, listening is key when it comes to satisfying my clients. Making my clients vision come to life is so important to me. I wouldn’t be where I’m at now if it weren’t for the opportunities I had. The first time I captured a picture with a professional camera was in 2016 for a maternity shoot, which my aunt was kind enough to lend me. In 2020 I was working at Sephora part time, I just had my second child and doing photography as well. I loved Sephora, but the time and pay was just not worth continuing. I wanted to manage my own schedule, but also be a stay at home mom, while I pursuing what I loved. Through out this business I have met wonderful clients that became part of my journey, but overall my kids are what defines me as a photographer. I hope to continue to grow and inspire others to take a step forward in following their dreams.
