Meet Jessica Johnson, LCSW, ACSW, CCM, CCATP, CBT-C | Psychotherapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Johnson, LCSW, ACSW, CCM, CCATP, CBT-C and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, what role has risk played in your life or career?
One thing I know for sure about life is that we can’t escape risk. It’s always there, in some form. Throughout my career, I’ve taken many risks—whether it was leaving a stable job to pursue a better quality of life or applying for positions I didn’t necessarily qualify for, hoping for a financial boost. Those were big risks. Personal life decisions, too—like jumping into homeownership just six months after finishing grad school. Most of the choices I’ve made have felt “risky” or “against the grain,” but I leaned into them.
What I’ve learned about decisions is this: If it doesn’t make you nervous, maybe the dream or desire isn’t big enough. Risk has been a constant in advancing my career and trusting myself. When doubt creeps in, I look back at my past wins and remind myself that I’ve been in emotional tough spots before—and I’ve always found my way through.

What should our readers know about your business?
My practice, Once Ann Again Therapy, PLLC, is 100% virtual, allowing me to serve clients across Texas. I work with individuals 21 years and older and accept all major insurances as well as private pay. I’m especially excited about Couple Cards, a product I created called “Ask Me.” These cards are designed for couples at every stage of their relationship to help identify gaps, enhance communication, and spark meaningful conversation.
From a business perspective, consistency and motivation have been key to the traction I’ve gained so far. While there’s still a long way to go, I remain optimistic and driven.
Starting and maintaining a business comes with its challenges—especially in the beginning. Support can be scarce, and it can feel isolating at times. However, the impact I see on others is the true payoff. The lessons I’ve learned are many, but if I had to sum them up, I’d say, “Always bet on yourself.” I’m a fighter, committed to making an impact one session at a time, for the long haul.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Houston really does have something for every mood and occasion.
Maestro’s is a classic for when you’re in the mood for a more upscale, refined dining experience, and then there’s the Crawfish Shack for a laid-back, flavorful bite when you’re craving something casual and delicious. For breakfast, Bloom & Bee sounds like a perfect spot for a cozy, elegant start to the day, while Frank’s Diner gives off a classic, comfort-food vibe. And Loch Bar with its oyster bar? Definitely a go-to for a fresh and tasty seafood fix!
The Nutcracker Market at NRG during the holidays must be a blast—such a great mix of shopping, food, and festive cheer. And in the summer, the San Marcos Outlet Mall is the perfect place to cool off and snag some great deals.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
