Meet S0l0m0n | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with S0l0m0n and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi S0l0m0n, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
The art of making music has been a passion of mine my entire life; I still remember being four years old and holding a brush in the mirror rapping All Eyez on Me, imagining a raucous crowd on the other side instead of my reflection staring back. Time and circumstance would lead me to pursue other endeavors in my young adult years, but that burning desire never left, and once I got a taste of professional recording in 2016 I never looked back. It’s been almost ten years since then but I can’t imagine life without creating; my world just doesn’t turn quite the same without it.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Nothing in this business is achieved easily, and my journey to this point is no different. I’ve been in this industry nine years as of this interview and I still learn something new about myself or the craft each time I step into the studio. Perseverance, faith and self reflection are the only reasons I am here at this moment; a lot of what we do requires irrational confidence, an almost delusional belief in yourself that you are what you say you are. That’s the draw of my medium, the feeling it evokes within people; but you have to be able to self reflect and improve your skill or you won’t last long as a creator, that’s just what is is. What separates myself and my team from other outfits is that balance of confidence and self reflection; growth is something that everyone can relate to, and is a recurring theme in our lyrics. Our goal is for you to listen and have some fun while maybe learning something about yourself or the world along the way, and I hope that when people look back on my career one day that’s truly something that they can say.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So I spend way too much time in the studio to give you any great nightlife recommendations but Houston may have the best food in the country, if we’re at home, we’re EATING! You can throw a rock here and hit a good burger spot or steakhouse; Mike’s Seafood is the place to go for the best crawfish in the city, then you HAVE to follow up with the Eskimo Hut daquiris, it’ll get you right.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow, there are literally way too many people to thank here, I don’t even know where to start! I’ve had an amazing support system throughout all of this, but I do want to single out a few folks that have been absolutely instrumental to my artistic journey thus far: My initial team at DopeHouse that worked with me in artist development, with a special shout out Daniel and Trey who logged many, many studio hours to get our initial sound polished. My current producer/engineer Wyndigo, who is an absolute magician in the chair; we’d be dead in the water without him, period. To my great friend Samaria, who is the reason I am linked to my current outfit, and my sister Victoria, who has been there in support of it all since elementary. To my counterpart on the microphone Mike B, who pushes me to get better every day, and Paris, head of Delfern Productions and our visual director; you bring our visions to life and I will be forever grateful.
