We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Griffith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m originally from South Carolina, but I’ve called Texas home for almost two decades now. It’s here that I went through some of the hardest seasons of my life, including a long stretch in an abusive relationship that left deep scars and made it hard for me to trust others, especially men. For a while, I lost touch with family, lost confidence in myself, and lived in survival mode.

But Texas is also where my healing truly began. After leaving that situation, I found a fresh start in Texas City. It’s where I met my husband—someone who’s been instrumental in helping me learn to trust again and come out of my shell. He encouraged me to reconnect with the family I thought I had lost and reminded me how to start living, not just surviving.

I’ve always been creative—drawing, sculpting, and writing poetry as a kid. Over the years, I lost that part of myself, but slowly it began to return. I found peace in the simple things here, like watching the sunset over the bay or going fishing with my husband. It reminded me there’s still beauty in the world. Soapmaking started as a small creative outlet and grew into something much bigger—a way to share hope and comfort with others while reclaiming the creative spark I thought I’d lost.

Through Lonestar Lather, I get to share a piece of that healing. My faith, the support of my family, and this place I now call home continue to shape who I am and guide the heart behind everything I create.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Soapmaking is often seen as a practical craft, but for me, it’s an art form. Each bar is like a tiny canvas—blending colors, scents, and textures to tell a story rooted in Texas landscapes and everyday moments. What sets Lonestar Lather apart is that every product is inspired by a place, memory, or feeling from Texas. It turns everyday self-care into a small moment of connection.

I’m especially proud of how my products have become part of people’s daily routines—bringing them joy, comfort, and a moment to pause. I love seeing a customer light up when they find a scent that reminds them of home or a special memory.

The journey hasn’t been easy. I began soapmaking during a time of personal healing, rebuilding my life after trauma. Learning the craft—experimenting with recipes, researching ingredients—became therapy. It helped me reconnect with my creativity after years of silence. Running a business on top of that came with its own challenges: managing social anxiety at markets, juggling responsibilities, and confronting the fear of failure. But I learned to break things down into manageable steps, to take breaks when I needed to, and to trust that slow progress is still progress.

What I want people to know about Lonestar Lather is that it’s about more than soap. It’s a brand rooted in resilience, faith, and the beauty of everyday moments. Every bar, cream, or spray is made with intention—to bring comfort, delight, and a little piece of Texas into your day.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit, I’d want to give them a taste of the places that make life here special, while keeping things relaxed and meaningful.

We’d kick off with a meal at Luna’s Mexican Restaurant in Texas City, a spot close to my heart—it’s where my husband and I had our first date, and it’s still where we celebrate birthdays and special moments. Their enchiladas and handmade tortillas are a must!

A day of fishing would definitely be on the list, followed by a backyard BBQ with good music and plenty of laughter—one of my favorite ways to unwind and enjoy the Texas breeze.

We’d spend a day in Galveston—soaking in the sun on the beach, grabbing ice cream on the Seawall, and exploring The Strand for local shops and treats. Another day might take us to the Kemah Boardwalk for strolling, people-watching, and maybe riding a few rides if we’re feeling brave.

For a Houston adventure, I’d take them to the Museum District—especially the Museum of Fine Arts and the Houston Museum of Natural Science—followed by lunch from a local food truck or café. If we’re up for it, maybe a live show in the evening.

And of course, we’d make time for the quiet joys—watching the sunset by the bay, going for a walk, or spending an evening making soap together in my kitchen while catching up on life. I’m a bit of a homebody, so it’d be a blend of exploration and rest—just soaking in every moment.

There’s so much to do around here, but what makes it all special is sharing it with someone you care about—good food, beautiful places, and unhurried time together. That’s the kind of joy I try to capture in every product I make.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people who deserve credit for where I am today, but if I had to choose one, it would be my husband. He’s been a steady source of encouragement and support through some of the hardest seasons of my life. When I was struggling to trust again and come out of my shell after leaving an abusive situation, he showed me what it meant to feel safe, valued, and truly loved. He also encouraged me to reconnect with my family and believe in myself again.

He’s the one who first suggested I share the soaps I was making with others—he believed in me even when I didn’t.

I also have to thank my family and friends who have stood by me, tested my products, cheered me on at markets, and reminded me that the work I do matters. And most importantly, I give all glory to God—He’s carried me through each step of this journey and continues to guide me as I build Lonestar Lather.

They’re all part of the story behind every bar of soap I make, reminding me that what I do is about more than skincare—it’s about sharing hope, comfort, and a little piece of Texas with others.
