Meet Megan Polakoff | Founder & CEO of Meraki Wellness Complex

We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Polakoff and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I’m definitely a risk taker and have always been slightly impulsive. In youth I often gave very little thought in weighing the odds and tended to just rely on my personal intuition. In reflection I can see how that mindset and naive wanderlust gave me the opportunity to build confidence at a young age through trial, error and perseverance. I delisionally have always believed I can do anything I set my mind to. This fundamental skill has really shaped me personally and professionally to be the risk taker I am today and that has resulted in my multiple career successes that has ultimately led me to where I am presently.

What should our readers know about your business?
I started at the age of 15 building my first apparel brand with my mother who I would later buy out and have sole proprietorship of. I took that brand and grew the company into a multi million dollar apparel brand with distribution in several strategic retailers. After peaking during COVID and a new found freedom in travel and my marriage I really took a step back. I had started to suffer extreme burn out to the point of sabotage so decided to let that chapter go and retire. In my new found free time I quickly began to realize for the first time I felt like I lacked purpose, my kids had started to become teens and independent and I really found myself in a weird place of too much idle time and a loss of passion. I really commend women who take on homesteading as its a full time job and unfortunately not one I found myself thriving in.
At some point during this limbo period I realized I had never really taken care of myself not just aesthetically but emotionally, and really lacked presence and space for myself and that was something that was never really modeled to me even by the women in my life. I was surrounded by amazing women but they all even being as amazing as they were, were pouring from empty cups. It was like everything and everyone, kids, career, husband, chores etc came first and whatever little bit was left was what I had to feed my soul on. It was in this moment and looking at my daughters develop into young ladies that I thought this has to change and I need to educate myself to teach them and that’s where the idea was birthed. I enrolled a couple months later into esthetics school, that turned out to be a toxic disappointment and upon completion I found myself just as clueless as when I started and even more frustrated with the esthetic education available to people looking to grow and invest in themselves. I took another year and close to another twenty thousand dollars and took every course, state license, trained abroad and came back determined to offer a blend of comprehensive self care to my clients. During this same time an opportunity was presented and also made the decision to develop and establish a school for med aesthetic students. This is such a large growing sector but no one was really giving clear, comprehensive education on the topics it’s really kind of the wild west so that became our mission as a company to really offer our clients and now students a full realm of comprehensive understanding to set them up for success and achieve their goals.
Once the clinic and school were launched in 2024 we found ourself quickly at capacity and now have a wait list of students. We have also increased our clinic to offer multiple providers including mental health as well really focusing on overall wellness and allowing women the space to just be and let us take care of them for a change instead of them always taking care of everyone else. In late 2025 we added our health food bar, Seasons, next door serving farm to table seasonal bites and smoothies dubbed the Farmers Erewhon. Early this year we opened our pilates and sauna studio, Daily Ritual, and this summer we are adding pickleball for our members. We have an onsite hair salon, Tame, and really have worked to create a fun, cohesive community for women to just be themselves and seen in a safe, healthy and exciting community here at the Meraki Complex.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family deserves alot of credit! I started my family very young and my children grew with me and my companies, they have played a vital role in how I view business even today in creating companies that I know they will enjoy, be proud of and even participate in. My husband also is an entrepreneur and supports and rallies every crazy thought and idea with his strength in finance, through out our endeavors and marriage we have had to learn our lanes and roles but collectively we are a powerhouse that builds and sells amazing brands and concepts.
