We had the good fortune of connecting with Julie Rehme and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started Calo’s Closet as more of a hobby and it eventually turned into a business after years of dedication and hard work. I’ve always had a passion for fashion and after years of having my friends and others ask me where I bought something or how I pull together my outfits, I thought why not compile it into a blog.Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Through my blog and social media accounts I connect with my followers by sharing my personal style and lifestyle tips and tricks. I would say that each blogger is unique in that we all have our own style preferences and experiences we go through. I am most excited to continue to see where my blogging journey will take me over the years. Starting any business is not an easy task. It takes a lot of patience, consistency, and learning throughout the way. I overcome any challenges I have with the support of my family and friends and I also believe that being a part of a community that is in the same field as you helps. Having people that are going through the same things that you can relate to can help reassure you that you are making the right decisions.Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite spots in the city are the Heights, City Centre/Memorial City area, and Montrose. I love finding hidden gems like boutiques and coffee shops that are small business that I can support and that might not be in other cities. June and Co. is one of my favorite Houston boutiques. I also love Black Rock Coffee Bar and Buzz N Bites. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my success to my family and friends who have helped support me throughout the way. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am today.
