We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, how do you think about risk?
I believe in taking risks, without them you’ll never know if you could’ve been successful! I’ve gone skydiving and I ride motorcycles. I took a big chance by investing everything I had to start a business that I truly believed in my heart was going to work.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I own, and operate, an off leash adventure hiking service for urban dogs. We have a 3,000 acre ranch where we take groups of about 20 dogs, per day, for exercise, fun, and socialization. Our concept is of safely hiking groups of dogs, off leash, inside the boundaries of our ranch. This is unique as there are no fences, to speak of, unlike traditional daycare and dog parks scattered across the city. I’m most proud of the fact that our business model worked, and we made the right choices, in order for our business to prosper. In addition, I feel a sense of pride in that initially there wasn’t a lot of faith in our idea, and we’ve grown in spite of that. Our business arrived at it’s current level of success through good old fashioned, hard work. In addition, we’ve strived to make sound business decisions in sticking to our business model. Initially, our business was a slippery slope. We had a bit of a learning curve, and challenges unique to our service. But, we overcame our obstacles, and did everything in our power to ensure we did not make the same mistakes twice. Patience. Being patient is not one of my strong suits, but I had to learn to trust the process, and allow things to develop in their own time. I never thought I’d be where I am today, or get to do what I do for a living and actually realize my dream.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
