We had the good fortune of connecting with Mandy Machowicz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mandy, what matters most to you?
The word integrity is the one value and principle that I aspire to live into every single day. Do I have flaws? Absolutely! Integrity is not something you’re born with, it’s instilled inside of you at some point and it is earned every single day by action and results.I do believe that we all must learn from our mistakes. However, I believe where one chooses to go from there is an opportunity to learn and be better. Being a person of your word is an attribute that I take very seriously and I aim to instill this in my two little girls as well. I want my family and friends to know they can count on me no matter what. I want them to also feel confident they can confide in me with no problem. How we behave not only in the public eye, but when no one is looking as well, is what creates a moral compass that a person with integrity lives by.Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is my story. My willingness to keep moving forward and be the very best I can be every single day – even when that tiny voice in my head tells me “you can’t do that Mandy.” I have learned in some of the hardest ways imaginable how short life is and my perspective is a smidge different than most. After losing both of my parents on Thanksgiving day to an 18 wheeler collision then shortly thereafter learning my husband had terminal brain cancer, I had to accept some challenging realities and keep caring for my two baby girls, now 13 and 11, NO matter what. I avoided dinner time for years – and I finally realized it was because the three people that I ate and said grace with almost every single night for nearly a decade had literally vanished from my world. I kept a smile on my face and got through my days, however I wasn’t living. I was more like floating. It wasn’t until I took control of my days and decided I would take our family business Not Dead Can’t Quit – which meant more to me then than ever – and share it with others. If I can make a difference on this planet just one soul at a time – then I am possibly leaving this planet a little bit better than I found it. And that’s what I live for. I have since moved on and built a successful design and home remodel business with my talented best friend and she has as joined forces with me as well with NDCQ. Jody and I have a passion for real estate and taking on projects that are really ugly and making them gorgeous! I have also found love in a special man that I have known since I was 15. Having Clay in my life and now his two sweet kiddos and becoming a family of 6 has been amazing for us all as we healed. However, this wasn’t easy – BUT nothing worth living for is. NDCQ was started as a business with my late husband and I in 2008 but he was the story and the face of the brand and he shared this in a much different way. It took tragedy and heartache for me to fully embody Not Dead Can’t Quit and then eat, sleep and breathe it – to then realize how special it us and I am committed to now taking this brand to a whole new level and share it with the world. It’s so inspiring to see others use this mantra in their own lives and share with us the breakthroughs they experience and truly see how powerful and capable they truly are. I believe that if I can get through the tough situations I’ve been through – so can you. Our goal is to grow and build an NDCQ Nation of driven, like-minded individuals who embody this tough Not Dead Can’t Quit Spirit and share this message with people they know and touch as well. It’s powerful and super rewarding and I feel absolutely blessed that the people close to me have trusted me and supported this business and I am excited about the future of NDCQ! I am also proud to be the President of a very special 501(c)3 organization called Texas TEAM Foundation. This Foundation helps first responders and all military, retired or active duty, in any sudden or tragic situation in an unexpected time of need without all of the red tape and paperwork. My idea of a perfect visit or trip would of course need to be child friendly. I am an outdoor girl and anytime I can get my kiddos outside without an electronic device is a win! So I would plan a visit to my dear friend’s Ranch in West Texas. I love to fish and hunt and be in nature. I grew up outdoors with my Dad and some of my happiest times and memories with him always come to mind and make me smile when we’re at the Ranch. Seeing all of the kiddos out feeding and playing with the animals or down at the river fishing or skipping rocks is my idea of the best way to spend quality time. It seems as if time stands still actually. Then, coming back and cooking with family and friends and sitting around the firepit with music playing – which may include a margarita or cocktail or two and just enjoying the beautiful scenery and my closest people’s company is my idea of the best time ever. I have never seen heaven, but life on the ranch is Heaven to me.Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
